Microsoft launches about 300 piracy campaigns in 70 countries

December 4th news Microsoft said on Thursday that in order to crack down on software piracy, it again cooperated with global prosecution agencies to file a series of lawsuits. This time Microsoft took about 300 enforcement actions, including civil litigation and raids in about 70 countries around the world.

In addition, Microsoft has set up a "Forensic Laboratory" to detect pirated software in nine cities. Microsoft's Windows system monopolizes 90% of the global PC market, providing a solid foundation for the company's other products such as Office sales. However, rampant piracy has also had a serious impact on the company's quarterly performance.

Microsoft said the crackdown included the Chinese Copyright Office searching 12 companies charged with selling pirated software and suing a local "hard disk installation pirated computer manufacturer." Microsoft also filed four civil suits in India and conducted four criminal market raids.

According to recent media reports, pirated Windows 7 software can be purchased for as little as $1 in the Indian black market. Windows 7 was released in October, and Microsoft expects it to recover from the derogatory image of Windows Vista. Although sales in China and India are relatively small, Microsoft hopes that these countries will drive growth in the future.
