Liu Chuanzhi: Win7 will have a positive impact on PC sales

Liu Chuanzhi, chairman of Lenovo, the world's fourth-largest PC maker, said on Saturday that the launch of Microsoft's new operating system, Windows 7, will greatly boost the company's PC sales. He said through translation that Windows 7 will have a big positive impact and we have made a lot of preparations.

Liu Chuanzhi made the remarks to Reuters on the margins of an industry conference, but he declined to give Windows 7 expectations for the company's revenue contribution. Earlier this week, Lenovo released two new laptops, all with Microsoft's new operating system. With the recovery of the global economy and the start of the enterprise renewal cycle, industry observers believe that PC sales will resume growth next year, but their views differ on the impact of Windows 7.

On Thursday, Microsoft released Windows 7, the most important product for more than 10 years, and hopes to win back consumers after Vista fails. Recently, Wang Zhentang, chairman of Taiwan's Acer, told Reuters that he expects Windows 7 to have a positive impact on sales, and both Vista and XP users may change computers. IDC said on Tuesday that PC shipments in the Asia Pacific region increased by 17% in the third quarter, while Lenovo accounted for the largest share.
