Microsoft claims that Windows 7 global sales exceeded 600 million sets

Microsoft (microblogging) global vice president, head of the OEM business unit Steve · Steve Guggenheimer announced at the Taipei International Computer Show that the total sales of Windows 7 installation licenses has exceeded 600 million sets .

In October 2009, Microsoft officially released the Windows 7 operating system, and the total licensed sales in the first year of the listing reached 240 million. In the past two years or so, Windows 7 has maintained a good sales momentum.

Guggenheimer said in a keynote speech at Computex today that the total sales of Windows 7 installation licenses has exceeded 600 million units, and the equipment equipped with the system has accounted for 39% of all connected devices worldwide.

Although Windows 7 sales are good, Microsoft is working hard to promote the latest Windows 8 operating system. In today's keynote speech, Microsoft also arranged most of the time to showcase the latest products and related applications for Windows 8.

It is expected that Microsoft will officially release Windows 8 in October this year. At the Taipei International Computer Show opened yesterday, manufacturers including Acer (microblogging) and Asustek showed their products for Windows 8 for the first time.

Guggenheimer revealed in an interview with Sina Technology in April that Microsoft is negotiating with OEMs about the pre-installation of the Windows 8 operating system, but there is no pricing.

The latest news from Taiwan's supply chain manufacturers said that Microsoft is considering raising the licensing fee for the OEM version of Windows 8, which may have increased by at least 100%, but the final price has not yet been finalized.

According to industry insiders, there are many ways to license Microsoft operating systems. For example, Windows 7 is divided into retail version, OEM version and a large number of authorized versions of enterprises. The OEM version is sold with a personal computer or laptop and has the largest sales volume of about $40 to $50 per set. (Luo Liang from Taiwan)
