How to create, delete or format hard disk partitions in WIN7 system

  
                                    

First, create and format a new partition (volume)

To create a partition or volume on the hard disk (the two terms are usually used interchangeably), you must be logged in as an administrator and the hard disk There must be unallocated disk space or there must be free space in the extended partition on the hard disk.

If you do not have unallocated disk space, you can create some space by shrinking existing partitions, deleting partitions, or using a third-party partitioner.

1. Right click on Computer Point Management (if you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation).

2. In the left pane, under "Storage", click "Disk Management.

3, the following figure assumes that the mobile hard disk is a D disk, you can delete the D disk and do the next step, right click on the unallocated area on the hard disk, and then click "New Simple Volume".

4. In the "New Simple Volume Wizard", click "Next".

5. Type the size (MB) of the volume you want to create or accept the maximum default size, then click "Next".

6. Accept the default drive letter or select a different drive letter to identify the partition, then click "Next".

7. In the "Formatting Partition" dialog box, do one of the following: If you don't want to format the volume immediately, click "Do not format this volume", then Click "Next".

To format the volume with the default settings, click "Next".

8. Review your choices and click "Complete" .

Second, format the existing partition (volume)

Note: Formatting the volume will destroy all data on the partition. Be sure to back up all the data you want to save before you start.

1. Right click on Computer Point Management (if you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation)

2. " in the left pane Storage " Below, click "Disk Management".

3. Right-click on the volume you want to format and click "Format".

4. To format the volume using the default settings, in the < formatting” dialog box, click “OK”.

Then click “OK”.

Note: 1) It is not possible to format the disk or partition currently in use (including partitions containing Windows). 2) The "Execute Quick Format" option will create a new file table, but will not completely overwrite or erase the volume. "Quick Format" is much faster than normal formatting, which completely erases all existing data on the volume.

Third, delete the hard disk partition

You must log in as an administrator to perform these steps. When you delete a hard disk partition or volume (the terms "partition" and "volume" are often used interchangeably), you create a blank space that can be used to create a new partition. If the hard disk is currently set to a single partition, it cannot be deleted. You cannot also delete a system partition, boot partition, or any partition that contains virtual memory paging files because Windows needs this information to start properly.

Solution:

1. Right click on Computer Point Management (if you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, please type the password or provide confirmation)

2 In the left pane, under "Storage", click "Disk Management".

3. Right-click the volume you want to delete (such as a partition or logical drive) and click "Delete Volume.

4. Click "Yes" to delete the volume.
