How to set the screen saver password to be safe

If we don't want others to move our computer, the best way is to install a power-on password program to limit the intrusion of some uninvited guests, but if you don't have such software on hand or you are too lazy, don't want to Go find it. No problem! You can use the screen saver under Windows, because the screen saver can set the password under Windows. We use this feature to set the power-on password with screen saver.

1. First right click on the desktop, select “Properties" in the pop-up menu, the “display properties” window, select “screen saver", select your favorite screen Protect the program (here choose the Aquarium screen saver), wait for the time to fill in, check the box in front of "Password Protection", and then click “Set”, fill in your password, this password is the power-on password. .

2. Click “Start”→“Find ”, (or directly press “Win+F” key combination) in the name input box in the pop-up search window to enter the selected For the name of the screen saver program, enter Aquarium.scr, and the search range is C drive. Click the “Find” button after the input. Drag and drop the found screen saver to “start”→“program”→“start”, that is, run this over-screened screen saver every time you boot.

Although this screen saver can restrict the entry of illegal users, if the illegal user encountered is an old bird, he may enter the startup item by entering the "safe mode" mode. The screen saver program is deleted, so the screen saver password will be cracked.

The author will implement another plan to prevent illegal users from entering the "safe mode", that is, illegal users cannot activate the Windows boot menu at boot time.

3. Click “Start”→“Find ”, find the “Msdos.sys” file, open it with Notepad, and then add it in the [option] section of the file. The following lines:

“BootMulti=0” indicates that the setup system cannot display the boot menu;

<;BootGUI=1” indicates that the Windows 98 graphical user interface is directly entered at startup; >

<;BootDelay=0” indicates that at the time of startup, "Staring Windows 98..." information stay time is 0 seconds;

<;BootKey=0” indicates that F4 is set during startup. F5, F6, F8 function keys are invalid.

Tips

These statements added above should be capitalized, otherwise they will not be able to achieve their effects. It is also best to back up Msdos.sys and cover it later if you want to restore it.

With this modification, the Windows boot menu cannot be activated at boot time. This makes the power-on password more "sturdy".
