With the increasing number of genuine Windows 7 users, many users have begun to try their own system for reinstalling or helping friends install Windows 7. However, the installation process of Windows 7 may not be able to continue the installation due to many external reasons. According to personal experience, the main reason is not only the incompatibility of hardware components or the hardware configuration of the system can not meet the minimum requirements of Windows 7, so in the troubleshooting should focus on this aspect, less detours. Below we analyze several of the most typical cases for analysis.

(1). Installer refused to install or start

If the hardware components are not compatible with Windows 7, it may cause the installation to fail, or could not start the installer. So make sure that Windows 7 can detect all system hardware before installation and that it is included in the Windows 7 Hardware Compatibility List (HCL). It is recommended that you perform the necessary compatibility checks before installing Windows 7. If you have already started the installation, it is too late to check compatibility. If it is an upgrade installation or a dual system installation, I can see that I can reboot to the original system, and then start the installation program for detection with the following parameters. “/1394debug:” Enable kernel debugging on specific channels of the Firewire (IEEE 1394) port. “/debug ”, enable kernel debugging via the COM1 or COM2 port. “ /usbdebug:” Enable kernel debugging by going to the USB port of a specific target device. These options put the installer in debug mode to help determine the cause of the failure. If the installer detects a hardware conflict, you can configure the hardware to eliminate the conflict.

(2). The installer or DVD media report errors
If you are installing directly from the Windows 7 installation disc, or from a network installation, you may also encounter errors caused by issuing share media installation failure problem. For the case of installing from a DVD, we can try to clean the DVD drive so that it can read the disk better, or replace the CD-ROM or CD-ROM. For enterprise users, the client generally performs shared installation from the shared release. Generally, the share does not include all the installation files, or there is a problem with the shared network connection. You can debug from these two aspects.
(3). Setup reports insufficient system resources

Microsoft recently released Windows 7 minimum hardware resource requirements for installation, ie at least 512MB of RAM and approximately 25GB of hard disk space. For some old machine users, the installer fails to start if the minimum memory requirements for Windows 7 installation are not met. If the installer can start, but it detects that there is not enough disk space, it will not be installed. Unless we rebuild the partition or delete the original partition, we have enough space to install the operating system. For such installation failures, Windows 7 will have a clear error message, and troubleshooting is of course very easy.
(4). Suffering from the installation program suddenly stopped responding
Excluding all the above factors, sometimes we have to encounter the situation that the installation program suddenly stops. Normally, the installation of Windows 7 was going smoothly, and suddenly we found that the installation stopped responding and stopped the installation in the current interface without any progress. In this case, sometimes we will see the error message of stop, sometimes there is nothing, the system is like a crash.

If there is an error prompts to install the stop, but most stop error are some obscure error code, and can not clearly tell us what went wrong. At this point, we can take note of these error numbers or codes, then go to the Microsoft Knowledge Base (http://support.microsoft.com) for detailed information and then troubleshoot. At this point the installation can not be done, we usually need to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the computer to interrupt the error, sometimes press the combination button is invalid. We need to press the power button on the computer to force the system to restart. In general, after we restart the computer, we will go directly to the installer and the installation will continue. In some cases, you may also see the boot menu, and if this is the case, we can select the "Windows Installer" option to allow the installer to proceed. If the installer stops responding again, you will need to restart your computer, and sometimes you may need to try multiple times to complete the installation. Such failures are generally caused by sudden factors, and restarts can solve the problem. However, memory and CPU may also be the source of the problem, which requires us to make more complicated troubleshooting, in general, replacing the hardware will solve the problem.
