Windows7 changes to the hosts file

Modifying the HOSTS file is often used to block malicious websites, to advertise, of course, there are other uses for modifying the HOSTS file (you should not use it to do bad things). However, many people have encountered problems when modifying the HOSTS file under Windows 7. In fact, this is because Win7 needs to run Notepad as an administrator to open this file (Vista, Win2008 and Win7 are the same).

The HOSTS file is located in %SYSTEMROOT%\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts, which is the same as modifying the HOSTS file under Windows XP. Open the hosts file with Notepad for editing.

The specific operation method is:

1. Find "Notepad", then right click, left click "run as administrator". (if the system has Prompt for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click "Allow").

2, after running the Notepad program, click on the file above the Notepad window, select Open, find the Hosts file to modify, and then click "Save" on the menu "Save" .

Of course, if you know the system permissions settings, you can also edit the hosts file after removing the permissions.

If you are not or if you are lazy, use Windows Optimizer, which has HOSTS file editing function. The Vista system uses the Vista optimization master, and the Windows 7 system uses the Windows 7 optimization master.
