Reset the print subsystem under Win7: Solving common printer problems

The failure of the printer is definitely a big deal, but sometimes the printer is driving everything. Where is the problem?

Today, let's take a look at a trick under Windows 7 to solve common printer problems by resetting the print subsystem.

But the soft media Xiaobian has to explain in advance that everyone must do a backup job in advance. Of course, there is no need to back up all the registry, just back up the registry node in the modification of this article.

Okay, let's get started ——

1. Log in to the system with an administrator. Click Start -> Run, type “regedit.exe”, click OK.

2. Expand to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Print and click Registry -> Export Registry File from the menu. If you have mishandled the registry, you can double-click the exported file to import it.

3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Print\\Environment\\Windows NT x86\\Drivers and remove the Version-2 and Version-3 subkeys. If you only have Version-3, just delete the subkey of Version-3.

4. Delete any subkeys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Print\\Printers (do not delete the Printers themselves)

5. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Print\\Environment\\Windows NT x86\\PrintProcessors and remove any subkeys that are not the following key values:

winprint

6. Expand to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\ CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Print\\Providers, remove any subkeys that are not the following key values:

Internet Print Provider LanMan Print Services

7. Expand to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Print\\Monitors and delete any subkeys that are not the following key values:

BJ Language Monitor Local Port Microsoft Document Imaging Writer MonitorPJL Language Monitor Standard TCP/IP Port USB Monitor Windows NT Fax Monitor AppleTalk Printing Devices LPR Port Microsoft Shared Fax MonitorWSD Port

8. Close the Registry Editor

9. Delete any files and subfolders in the following folder:

C:\\Windows\\system32\\spool\\drivers\\w32x86\\2C:\\Windows\\system32\\spool\\drivers\\w32x86\\3

If only C:\\Windows\\system32\\spool\\drivers\\w32x86\\3, just delete it and ——

10. Restart your computer and test the printer.

Then, basically all the common faults can be successfully checked, I hope you can use this method to completely solve the printer strike problem. Of course, this is not only applicable to Win7 systems, XP or Vista systems.
