Windows7 add backup boot defense startup failure

When Windows 7 fails to boot, Microsoft's official recommended repair method is to use the Windows 7 installation CD to boot the system. However, if there is a boot failure in Windows 7, what should we do if we don't have a CD installed? We can add a backup boot for Windows 7 in case it is needed.

Understanding Windows 7 Startup

When Windows 7 starts up, it first activates the NT60 boot record and then loads the primary partition (usually the C drive). Bootmgr”, then read “c:\\boot\\bcd” and list the boot menu to load the necessary startup files for Windows 7. Therefore, Windows 7 cannot be started once the “bootmgr” and “bcd” file error. Windows 7 comes with "repair computer" and self-installed maintenance system (such as WinPE, etc.) are all started with the "bcd" file, so Windows 7 startup fails, the normal maintenance mode will be invalid.

To get Windows 7 backup started, you need to change the hard disk boot mode to GRUB boot (multi-layer boot), then place the “bootmgr” and “bcd” files in other partitions, and finally use “grldr” Start "ldmg;bootmgr" for different partitions. With these secure Windows 7 boot backups, we can also activate Windows 7 (Windows 7 startup backup emergency steps as shown in Figure 1) when it is not possible to start. .

Configuration is simple: to generate backup starts

Just copy the backup to start & ldquo; bootmgr & rdquo; and & ldquo; boot & rdquo; directory to another partition. Run the Registry Editor first, then find "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\BCD00000000", click on “File → Uninstall Configuration Unit" in the menu bar, and click “ is ” in the pop-up window.

Then copy the “c:\\bootmgr” file and the “c:\\boot” directory to the D drive (“show all files” and “show protected files by system" ). Since “bootmgr” will load the “boot\\bcd” configuration file in the same directory after startup, so just use “bcdtool” this software configuration “d:\\bootbcd” startup information. Click “Start Configuration →Open” in “bcdtool”, open “d:\\boot\\bcd”, then select "Windows Startup Manager" in the left window and change "<;device" to “partition=D:” (Figure 2).

Tip: In order to facilitate maintenance and reinstall the system, you can also add WinPE boot on the E drive (or other non-system partition). Use the virtual drive to load the Windows 7 installation files, then copy all the files to the E drive and configure them to start in “menu.lst”.

Actual combat: use the backup menu to start
