How to manually modify the default ost data file location of Outlook 2013 under Win8

Many times, the enterprise's Exchange server communicates with the client's Outlook using MAPI or Exchange Server cache mode. By default, the storage location of the component is: Documents and Settingsuser nameLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook. As the usage time goes on, the file will continue to increase, taking up a lot of C partition disk space; however, when using Outlook 2013 to create a new Email account, its data file (.ost file) is always saved in the C disk default directory. This takes up space on the C drive. Entering Outlook by default, I found that the location of the .ost file in the setup options seems to be unchangeable! In view of this, we provide a way to change the path of the data file in order to free up the disk space of the C partition.

1. Download "Office Customization Tool (OCT)"

You can choose 32-bit or 64-bit according to your own version, followed by 64-bit example;

2. After downloading, run 64-bit "admintemplates_64bit.exe", you will be prompted to choose a folder to extract, find a folder to extract as temp;

3. Enter your decompressed temp Folder, go to the admx folder, copy “outlk15.admx” file and “zh-cn” folder to "C:WindowsPolicyDefinitions", if your system disk is not C, please change to your own drive letter < Br>

4, press WIN + R, enter “gpedit.msc” Start Group Policy, modify the path as shown below!

5. Delete the original Outlook account (note backup Data), create a new account, the data file is already in the location you modified.
