How to set up dns local connection in win7 system

The website has two friendly addresses, called URLs and IP addresses. The user finds the website using the URL, and the computer uses the IP address to find the website. DNS can convert a URL to an IP address (and vice versa). For example, if you type in the address bar of a web browser, the computer sends a request to the DNS server. The DNS server translates the URL into an IP address so that the computer can find the Microsoft web server.

The following is a guide to changing the DNS settings for local connections.

Steps/Methods

Right-click on the desktop network (WIN7) properties.

Click Change Adapter Settings to open a network connection.

Select Local Connection---Right---Properties.

Select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/Ipv4)" Double click to open.

Select "Use the following DNS server address" in the preferred DNS server address box below to fill in the following (202.98.96.68, 61.166.150.123, 61.139.54.66, 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) Any one of them, click OK. Of course, the address here is determined by your own specific server.

The settings of the XP system are completely similar. The only difference is that right click on the network neighborhood on the desktop - select properties to set.
