Solve the problem that Win7 files are being used cannot be deleted

When deleting files in a computer in Win7, the prompt "File is in use, cannot be deleted" or "The operation cannot be completed because the file has been opened in XXX" is often displayed, especially the Temp temporary folder. But look at the Win7 taskbar, obviously no program is started, who is using these files? How to delete them?

To successfully delete these files, first find out which processes called them and then close the related applications. Compared to the old Windows system, Win7's "File in use" dialog has been improved, it will tell us what program is calling the file.

File is using the prompt

However, in many cases the system is still unable to list all the programs that call the file, so we still can not successfully delete the file. At this time, Win7 "resource monitor" will work.

Open the resource monitor. In the Start Search box, type Resource Monitor and press Enter to open it.

Open Win7 Resource Monitor

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Enter the administrator account password
In the "Resource Monitor" dialog, switch to the "CPU
" tab. Click the small arrow to the right of the "Associated handles" column to expand it. Enter the file name in the search field (if the file name is longer, enter a partial file name), and then press the Enter key. Now, all the processes related to the file are listed in the "Image" column.

Find the process
Select the process that will call the file, right click Mouse
, click "End Process", now these files can be deleted successfully.
