Small arrow to remove Win 7 desktop shortcut icon

        Q: My computer has been upgraded to Windows 7 system. Now I want to remove the small arrow in the lower left corner of the icons on the desktop. I don’t want to use any optimization tools, so I don’t want to mess up my system. I just want to make a mess. Remove the small arrows of those icons, do not need to do anything else, please tell the method, thank you!

A: In fact, there is nothing wrong with a small arrow, let us immediately distinguish Is it a shortcut or a file, of course, if it is necessary to remove it is also feasible. The current perfect solution: replace the small arrow with a transparent icon file, so as to remove the small arrow on the icon, the specific operation is as follows.

First find a fully transparent ico icon, save it to the C:\\Windows folder, the file name is Empty.ico (name and path can be customized), and then import the following registry information (will be content Save as reg file and double click to run),

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\Shell Icons]

"29" = "C:\\\\Windows\\\\Empty.ico,0"

Finally log out and log back in, the small arrow disappears. Click to download the transparent icon and the created registry information.

Note: There are two relatively widely spread modification method is not recommended. One is to delete the "IsShortcut" in the registry, and the other is to use the transparent icon in the system icon library shell32.dll. Both of these methods have defects, so don't use them.
