Practical tips Windows 7 uses a new experience

Although the official version of Windows 7 has not yet been released, everyone's enthusiasm for the beta version is not diminished, and more and more trial users. I have been learning and using it since Windows 7 Beta 1 (Build 7000). I have updated and used 4 versions until some time ago. In the process of using it, I have explored some practical techniques. I would like to share it with you and hope to help friends who are using or will use Windows 7.

1. File operations are faster

File copying and moving are more frequent in our daily operations. Under normal circumstances, we need to switch paths back and forth, which greatly affects work efficiency. Windows 7's resource manager integrates file copying and moving operations into menu items, making it easy for us to quickly copy and move.

By default, Windows 7 Explorer does not display the menu bar. We can click "Organize" → "Layout" → "Menu Bar" to call it up. If we want to perform the file move operation, first locate the path where the source file is located and select the file (you can select more), then execute "Edit" → "Move to Folder" to open the operation dialog box and locate the target path. mission accomplished. (Figure 1)

Figure 1 Windows 7 mobile file

Of course, we can also make the above operation easier by modifying the registry: open the registry editor, locate Go to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTAllFilesystemObjectsshellexContextMenuHandlers", and then create two new registry entries "Microsoft Copy To Service" and "Microsoft Move To Service", set the default values to "{C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}" and " “{C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}”. This can be done by copying the file from the right-click menu. (Fig. 2)

2, set the time zone with the command

We all know that we have to set the system time zone only under the graphical interface. If the administrator wants to pass the script It is impossible to unify the time zone setting. A new command tzutil has been added in Windows 7. With this command, we can set the time zone under the command line, and of course, it can realize the unified setting of the time zone for writing scripts.

tzuti l There are three most commonly used parameters: execute "tzutil /l" on the command line to list all time zones, and execute "tzutil /g" to display the current time zone. As shown in the figure, the system time zone of the author is "China Standard Time". Beijing Standard Time. Of course, the most common is to change the system time zone. For example, if we want to set the system time zone to the US Eastern Time Zone, you can execute the command “tzutil /s "US Eastern Standard Time"" from the command line. (Figure 3)

3, running the application in different identities

We know that in Windows system you can use the runas command to achieve Run the application in different identities, but the operation under the command line is difficult for the average computer user. Of course, we know that in Windows 2000/XP/2003 we can first press and hold "Shift" and then on the application. Right-click to select "Run as" to run the application as a different identity, but this requires the "Secondary Logon" service to be turned on. I don't know why Vista has dropped the feature, but in Windows 7 This function is added in. We also can first hold down the "Shift" key, then right-click on the application select "run as other user" dialog box, and then enter the user name, password. Unlike the Windows 2000/XP/2003 system, we do not need to open the "Secondary Logon" service (Figure 4).

4, Retrieve the sidebar

Although Windows 7 UAC has greatly improved Vista, there are more options and more user-friendly, but there are still many users who choose to turn off UAC for Windows 7. . Although it is convenient after the UAC is turned off, the desktop sidebar that was carefully set up before can not be used. In fact, this is Windows 7 in order to enhance security, by default if the user closes UAC, the gadgets will be disabled. Is there a way to get the best of both worlds? Of course, we can do the following to get back the desktop sidebar.

Run the registry editor, navigate to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionSidebarSettings" registry key, then create a new DWord key named "AllowElevatedProcess" in the right pane, and finally set its value to "1". This way the sidebar is ready to use. (Figure 5)

5, optimizing IE8 for system offloading

IE8 is integrated in Widnows 7 The browser, although the official version of IE8 has not been released, but the user has a lot. The author's feeling of using IE8 is: security, function has been greatly enhanced, but the speed and performance are not flattering. If it is the old machine to install Windows 7, this is already stretched, and the speed of IE8 is really unbearable. Of course, we don't have to do it because of the waste disposal, and we can optimize the IE8 properly.

The startup speed of IE8 is the most unbearable. We can speed up the startup by doing this: After launching IE8, click “Tools” → “Internet Options” to open the settings panel. Navigate to the "Connections" tab, click on the "LAN Settings" button below, and uncheck the "Automatically detect settings" checkbox. In addition, add-ons are also a factor that affects IE performance. Also click "Tools" → "Manage Add-ons" in the IE8 window to open the management window. The window lists all the add-ons in the current IE8. We can select the less-used add-ons to disable them. In addition, IE8 can also add "accelerators". Although these accelerators facilitate our operation, they also affect the performance of IE. Similarly, we can choose not to use the accelerator to disable it. Of course, the most thorough method is to start a "no add-on" IE8, you can find "Interent Explorer" from "Start" → "All Programs" → "System Tools". However, it is very troublesome to find this way. You can create a shortcut on the desktop and start the no-loader IE8 directly when you need it. (Figure 6)

6, automatically switch desktop background

Friends who have used Mac system should be very Hyun's visual effects are still fresh, such as the timing switching of the desktop background will eliminate our aesthetic fatigue and bring different visual enjoyment. If it is implemented in Windows 7, in fact, Windows 7 draws on a lot of visual functions of the Mac system, of which desktop background switching is one of them. Right click on the desktop and select "Personalize" to enter the settings window. By default, Windows 7 does not enable desktop switching effects. We can select a desktop theme from the "Widnows theme (5)". Of course, we can also customize the settings, such as we select a theme named "Landscape", and then click on the theme under "Current Theme" to enter the "Desktop Background" settings window. In this window, there are 6 desktop background images by default. You can check or add other images to switch. The default is to switch the desktop background every 30 minutes. Click the drop-down list to select between 10 seconds and one day. In addition, you can also choose how to display the image, such as "stretch", "tiling", "centering" and so on. Click "Save changes" after the setting is completed to take effect. (Fig. 7)

7, Quickly retrieve files

File query and retrieval are often used in actual combat. At the very least, when we can't determine the file name, we often use wildcards for fuzzy queries. However, the files obtained by this kind of query are very numerous. How to find the files we need from so many files makes many users have a big headache. In Windows 7, we work with search and file preview to quickly retrieve the files we need without opening the file.

For example, if we want to find a picture, but forget the name of the picture, just remember that it is in jpg format and save it in a directory on the D drive. We can do this to quickly find the desired image: Open "Computer" into the D partition and type "*.jpg" in the search bar to search. After the search is completed, the search results will be displayed in the form of detailed information. Which image is what we need? Click the "Show Preview Pane" button to open the preview pane on the right side of the Explorer. When you click on the file icon in the search results, the file will be displayed as a preview on the right. Of course, for the sake of simplicity, we take the retrieval of image files as an example. In fact, this "search + preview" method is more practical for the retrieval of Word files, Excel files, Pdf electronic documents and other documents. In addition, the federated search function in Windows 7 can retrieve files on multiple computers, and you can use them at special times. (Figure 8)

8, Free Switching of System Language

Let the system support multiple language versions, And the ability to switch freely has always been the dream of system enthusiasts. We can set up a system that allows different users to enter different languages, which is very useful in actual combat. For example, in order to learn English while learning computer technology, we can enter the English version of the system to operate; while others can use the Chinese version of the system. How to achieve this?

Figure 9 Windows 7 different language switching

First need to install Windows 7 different language packages, to install Chinese language package as an example: first Download the Chinese language package, and then go to “Start” → “Control Panel” → “Clock, Language and Region”, click to open the “Install or Uninstall Display Language” pop-up wizard, click “Install Display Language” to complete the Chinese language package according to the wizard. Installation, the system restarts after the installation is completed. If you want to change the current language of the system, go to the "Clock, Language and Region" window of the control panel, and then click "Change Display Language" to open the "Regional and Language Options" window, in which we click "Select Display Language" Select a language from the drop-down list below. Finally, "OK" and log out of the system. After logging in again, the system language is switched.

9, fast management fonts

fonts are very important resources in Windows systems, font management is part of system management but often ignored by everyone. The font management in Windows 7 has changed a lot compared with the previous version of Widows. The user's management of fonts is also more convenient, and the number of operable items has also increased a lot.

Click "Start" to enter fonts in the search bar to find the font directory, click to enter the Windows 7 font directory. You can see that Windows 7 provides a preview of the font, and there is a detailed description of the font under each font. We don't need to open the font to see the font. In addition, the action items that the user can perform on the font are listed in the task window on the left. For example, "Change font size", click this item to enter the setting window, in which three types are provided for the user to change the size of the text on the screen. Select one of them and then "Apply" to change the system font size. (Figure 10)

Summary: In addition to the above, such as VHD (Virtual Hard Disk), AppLocker, Bitlocker to Go The new features of Widnows 7 also bring us a new application experience, because I have written this before and will not repeat this. Windows 7 is still a system to be released, and there must be more features and skills that our system enthusiasts need to dig.
