Microsoft personally introduced the key features of Windows 8 Beta

With the approach of Windows 8 Beta, Microsoft summarized the user feedback, and introduced some key features of Windows 8 beta. Including windows 8 file copy, resource manager, and so on.

Conflict: Identifying duplicate files when resolving file name conflicts

Windows 8 offers a whole new experience when copying or moving files and encountering file name conflicts.

User Voice: If there is a contrast button in the "Select" dialog box to see if the two files are the same, then it would be great!

Normally, two Files have the same file name because of the copy operation, it makes no sense to choose between two identical files, both for copy operations and for mobile operations. In Windows 8 Beta, Microsoft added an option in the "Detailed Conflict Resolution Dialog" to help users avoid unnecessary choices, as shown below:

In the lower left corner of the dialog, there is a Option, when selected, you can <; skip two files with the same date and size”. With just one click, Windows 8 Beta can help you filter out files with the same file name, date, and size, and the system will skip copying and moving these files. This feature does not increase the time of operation and supports all systems and storage types on the local and network.

This option is not selected by default. The user only needs to select it once, and the system will adopt this configuration by default in the future.

Copy: System Changes

User Voice: If you start a copy of a larger file, using a wireless network, then if you insert a faster cable during file copying Network, can the system recognize and utilize the faster network connection?

If both ends of the copy are Windows 8 machines, the answer is yes, it can automatically identify and utilize the enhanced network, thanks to the SMB (Sever Message Block) protocol for multi-channel support.

User Voice: Can we pause the copy job and continue after restart/sleep/hibernate?

In Windows 8 Beta, when the system sleeps or sleeps, the copy operation will automatically pause. When the machine wakes up, you can click the Cancel Pause button to continue the copy (to prevent system failure, Windows 8 Beta Does not automatically resume replication work).

Copy: Process & ldquo; Confirm & rdquo; & & quoquo; Interrupt & rdquo;

User Voice: Can you display all the copies after the end of the copy work "Error dialog box"? This way I don't have to sit in front of the computer and keep watching.

Windows 8 provides two types of user alerts in the copy operation, &ld;;confirm ” and “interruption”. Confirm the category such as “ Are you sure you want to permanently delete the file? & rdquo;, this type needs to be completed before the copy work; the interrupt is the more problems the system has when copying, such as the file can not be found, the file is in use, and so on.

Windows 8 Beta will display all confirmation class dialogs before moving or copying files. All interrupt problems encountered during the copying process will be displayed in order after all the work done by the system is completed.

Resource Management: Navigation Pane Problems

User Voice: Please fix the unbearable navigation pane scrolling bug in Windows 7.

Microsoft said that in Windows 8 Beta, the issue has been resolved and will no longer appear in the system.

Resource Management: Respect the direction of the image metadata

User Voice: Can you support lossless image rotation?

In Windows 7 and Windows 8, JPEG images are only lossless when rotated with standard image sizes. Now, the resource manager can also recognize the EXIF direction information of JPEG images. If your camera correctly sets the value, you don't have to manually correct the direction.

Picture Display in Windows 7 Explorer

Picture Display in Windows 8 Explorer

Explorer: Lock to Start Screen

User Voice: Half of the entries in my Windows 7 Start Menu are shortcuts to folders. Folder shortcuts are no longer supported in the Windows 8 Start screen. What should I do?

In Windows 8 Beta, you can easily lock your favorite folders to the start screen. The Resource Manager's Ribbon interface provides the "Pin to Start" option:

As in Windows 7, you can lock shortcuts and executables directly from Explorer to Start. Start screen.

Resource Manager: PowerShell

User Voice: Although the "Open Command Prompt" option in the File menu is also useful, I am more accustomed to using PowerShell.

Microsoft also added "Open PowerShell Prompt" in Windows 8 Beta, as shown below:

Resource Manager: Changes to the Ribbon Interface

Ribbon default minimization:

Unlike the maximized display of the Resource Manager Ribbon interface in the Windows 8 Developer Preview, the Ribbon in Windows 8 Beta will be minimized by default. This saves users from being distracted, and users can discover the features they need. Click the small down arrow in the upper right corner to expand the Ribbon column.

Hot Key Visibility:

In the Ribbon interface, keyboard shortcuts for various operations can also be easily viewed for user convenience. As shown in the figure below, the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+N is displayed in the prompt message of the “New Folder” button.

User Settings Roaming:

In order to provide a seamless experience for users, the Explorer settings also support roaming. In Windows 8 Beta, the resource manager settings have also been added to roaming properties that can be synchronized with other Windows 8 PCs. In the "Sync your settings" interface, you can open “Other Windows Settings  and roam the Explorer settings.
