Windows 8 app store reaches $1 billion in revenue

Microsoft is about to launch the Windows 8 operating system in 2012, and has made it clear that it will develop an app store for Windows 8. Some foreign media have analyzed this today and pointed out that the Windows 8 app store will become Microsoft's next billion-dollar business. The following is the full text of the review:

Microsoft is about to launch the next generation of Windows operating system in 2012. If nothing else, the name of this system will be Windows 8.

The Windows operating system has always been Microsoft's most important revenue-generating engine, with sales accounting for almost 25% of Microsoft's total revenue. According to data provided by the US financial consulting firm Trefis, since the launch of Windows 7 in 2009, this product has sold more than 400 million copies worldwide.

However, with the decline in sales last year, Microsoft's sales revenue from the Windows operating system also fell by 2 percentage points. And Microsoft is still hoping for Windows 8, hope that this operating system that can support desktop computers, laptops and tablets can be sold more. At the same time, Microsoft will also launch its app store for Windows 8, and once this new feature gets enough attention from the outside world, it will be another potential new development direction for Microsoft.

Apple is still Microsoft's only major competitor in the operating system space, and the company will now use Mac OS X as its main operating system product. Some analysts have recently expected Microsoft's share price to be $28, which means that in the stock market, Microsoft still has 10% to 15% upside.

Next Cornucopia

Microsoft Windows Team President Steven · Steven Sinofsky previously stated in a blog post about Windows 8 that Microsoft will Windows 8 has developed an app store.

Apple officially launched the iPhone app store in 2008 and was a big success. Apple recently said that the company has paid more than $2.5 billion in fees to application developers. Since Apple will draw 30% of the management fee from the app store's sales, it can be estimated that Apple has profited at least $1 billion from the app store. Apple also recently launched a Mac app store for its desktop users.

Apple currently has more than 200 million iOS users worldwide, while the average price for iOS apps is around $1.99.

We expect Microsoft to sell at least 400 million copies in the year of Windows 8. Earlier, we highlighted in an article called "The Importance of Windows 8 for Microsoft Stocks" that Windows 8 will be the only product that will have a decisive impact on Microsoft's stock price next year.

And our expectations for the average selling price of Windows apps will be much higher than the average selling price of iOS apps. In summary, we believe that the Windows 8 app store will be able to easily become Microsoft's next billion-dollar large-scale business, thereby supporting the Windows team's revenue to a higher level.
