Disk management is a task in the computer that can be delivered to users in the form of applications. The main functions of disk management are troubleshooting programs and disk defragmenters and defragmenters. Many users today still don't know how to use disk management. The following is a small series for everyone to introduce the Win8 system for disk management operations.

Operation steps:

5, select the disk you want to manage, click the mouse Right click, you can have the corresponding operation, as shown;

Compressed volume

1, compressed volume, meaning to free up the extra space of a disk. At present, the hard disks of the computer are relatively large, such as 500G, 1TB, etc., but many computers are only divided into two disks for the user, that is, one system C disk and another D disk. If you think that the two disks are inconvenient to use, you can use this method if you want to free up the remaining space of the D drive. This method is directly divided by the system's own tools, so it will not affect the original data on the disk.

2. For example, here I want to separate my D disk out of 100M space, select D disk, click Right click and select the "Compress Volume" option.

Note: Compressed volumes are only available for disks partitioned by NTFS.

3, then in the compression window, enter the disk space you want to vacate, the unit is MB. Enter 100 here as an example, click the "Compress" button.

4, then you can see that there is more than 100MB of free disk space behind the original D disk.

Expanding Volumes

1. Expanding a volume means adding the free space on the disk. Before I vacated the D disk out of 100M space, now I will add it. Select the D drive and click the right mouse button, select the "Extended volume" option,

2, then click "Next" & rdquo; Continue,

3, then located behind the D drive The 100M free disk space will be automatically selected, click “Next& rdquo; Continue,

4, then the system prompts that the disk expansion has been completed, click “Complete” button,

5, and finally back to the disk management, found that the 100 M space behind the D disk has been expanded into the D disk,

New simple volume

1, create a new simple volume Think of it as a function of creating a new disk, such as creating a disk in free space. In Disk Management, find unallocated or available disk space,

2. Select and click the right mouse button, select “New Simple Volume”Options;

3, then click &ldquo Next step & nbsp; continue;

4, you can choose to create a simple volume size, keep the default space all the same, click & ldquo; next & rdquo; continue, as shown;

5, then you can assign a new disk number to this simple volume, you can also choose to install the NTFS folder, you can also choose not to assign the disk number. Here, for example, to assign a disk number, click “ Next” to continue;

6. Next, whether to format the disk file system, define the allocation unit size, disk name (volume label), and Whether to perform a quick format. Keep all the default settings here, click “Next& rdquo;Continue;

7. Finally click on the “Complete” button to wait for the system to complete the operation;

For everyone to introduce the Win8 system for disk management operations, it is recommended that you regularly clean up the disk properly to avoid computer failure.
