Win8/Win7 Tips: Pull out the real murder of C disk space

Many users who use Win8 and Win8.1 can easily find that the original system disk only takes up 20G. As the usage time increases, the disk space of the C disk decreases continuously. Where does this reduced space go?
Because of the special environment of Windows system, the general reduced space is mainly concentrated in the following:
Registry: User data and program data are continuously written into the registry, so the registry will also become larger.
Patch Installation: When Windows Update auto-update is turned on, almost every month there will be a new patch release. Installing the patch requires extra space (the patch replaces some files and backs up the original files).
System Restore: System Restore automatically creates a restore point and requires hard disk space.
App Store Cache: App Store will have some residual cache file deposits when downloading apps, taking up some space.
Others such as hibernate temporary files and system-driven backups are also larger files.
Since I know the real murder of the system disk, how to lose weight to the bloated system disk?
1, first analyze the large file directory and the number of their own system disk, you can use the disk space analysis tool or system slimming tools to analyze, what are the big files or programs.

It can be seen from the above that the system disk is mainly composed of several display/semi-hidden system folders, plus several system single files: respectively, 32-bit or 64-bit software installation directory Program Files, records The application registers the configuration file directory ProgramData, the Windows system home directory, the user personal data Users, and other restore point file directory Recovery and the system sys file generated by sleep hibernation.
2, after analyzing the disk condition of the system disk, the situation of the large file or file occupation is also known, and then the slimming operation of the system disk begins. For example, the system slimming tool safely deletes system files that can be cleaned up.

3, Program Files or Program Files (x86) slimming: used to store the application's installation file directory, occupy a certain volume, you can uninstall some large programs.
4, ProgramData slimming: not recommended, store most of the application software and program configuration information
5, Windows system home directory: which stores a variety of temporary files for each month of the system Windows Update upgrade backup, It also includes the temporary cache generated after the app store app is downloaded. Support manual deletion or third-party tool deletion.
The specific path is as follows: C:\\Windows\\SoftwareDistribution\\Download

6. User personal data Users: It stores the temporary files of the software or various temporary files generated during the daily operation of the user. Not very big, but after a long time, it can also accumulate more. Since temporary files are system hidden files, they can be resolved using a third-party security cleanup tool.

7, other restore point file directory Recovery: store manually created or system automatically generated restore points, it is recommended to adjust the upper limit, it is not recommended to turn off this feature.
The operation is as follows: Right click on my computer, select Properties, and enter the system information summary page.

Then select the system protection function, the system is turned off by default. It is recommended to manually enable (enable) and configure the disk space usage.

8. System sys file generated by sleep hibernation
Because Windows 8/8.1 introduces the quick start function, it speeds up the booting speed. If the hibernation function is enabled, it will generate a physical memory in the system disk. Large system hibernation files pagefile.sys and hlberfil.sys files.
You can use powercfg /h on or powercfg /h off administrator: command prompt to enable or disable hibernation.

The above scheme is also applicable to Win7 platform
