Win8 IE10 Flash can not open the solution

As we all know, Windows8 provides two modes of IE10 browser, Modern mode and desktop mode. The Modern version has a new look and is more suitable for touch browsing. The desktop version is more similar to the earlier version of IE browser, and the operating experience is similar to IE9.

If you are having trouble opening Flash content while using the IE10 browser built into Windows 8 system, you can refer to the solution below.

1. Check if the content can be played in desktop mode

2. If the content cannot be played in desktop mode

a. Disable ActiveX Filtering

b. Enable Flash Player

c. Install the latest version of Flash Player

3. If content can be played in desktop mode

a. Enable compatibility view (CV) list updates

Check if content can be played in desktop mode

If the content is not playing in Modern mode, please follow the steps below to check if it is played in desktop mode:

: Flash Player is embedded in both versions. The Compatibility View (CV) list enables compatible rich media content in Modern Mode Internet Explorer. If something cannot be played in Modern mode, they may not be listed in the CV list. In this case, you can view these in desktop mode Internet Explorer.

• Swipe from the bottom or top edge to display the application bar.

• Open the Tools menu and select View on your desktop. Check if you can view the content.

Disabling ActiveX Filtering

• Open a page with Flash content in desktop mode Internet Explorer. (See the previous section to learn how to open content in desktop mode.)

• Select Tools > Security. If ActiveX filtering is selected (there is a check to indicate that ActiveX filtering is selected), click this option again to cancel.

• Close your browser and open it, then try to view the content.

Enabling Flash Player

Make sure Flash Player is enabled.

• Open a page with rich media content in desktop mode Internet Explorer. For example, find the Flash Player. (See the previous section to learn how to open content in desktop mode.)

• Select Manage Add-ons from the Settings menu.

• Select the Flash Player add-on: Shockwave Flash Object. Note: Make sure the site contains rich media content to see Flash Player in the list of add-ons.

• Click Enabled, then click Close.

Installing the latest version of Flash Player

Some content may require a higher version than the Flash Player you have installed. See if you have installed the latest Flash Player version by visiting the Find Versions document. The second step of the document shows your existing version of Flash Player.

Flash Player is embedded in Internet Explorer in Modern and Desktop mode. All updates are delivered via the Windows update mechanism. You can also download and install the latest updates at the following link:

• 64-bit computers

• 32-bit computers
