How to add a shortcut to the WinX folder

To add a new one, it is because the other shortcuts to the other files are copied directly to the Group folder. The system does not recognize this. This may be the system. The protection measures prevent malware from adding itself to the WinX menu.

So, can't we add other shortcuts? No, there are still ways to achieve this. The AskVG.com website provides a way to add shortcuts by modifying system files.

The reason why users can't add shortcuts to the WinX menu is because Windows8 will perform a hash check on the WinX menu every time it runs, if it finds a shortcut that does not match the preset. The method will automatically block and not display. So to add a new shortcut, you need to turn off the hash check, and this check operation is controlled by the twinui.dll file in the Windows\\System32 directory. You can add the intent by modifying it to turn off the check.

Note: The following operations involve modifying/replacement of the system core files, please be cautious.

Description of the file modification method:

First copy the twinui.dll to another folder, and then open the copied twinui.dll file with any hex editor (do not edit the system directly) Files under the directory).

Then search for the following code: 32-bit system--[50 E8 AD FA FF FF]; 64-bit system--[E8 EF F9 FF FF]. (These codes only correspond to Win8 Build 8250 Consumer Preview)

Replace with the following code: 32-bit system--[90 90 90 90 90 90]; 64-bit system--[90 90 90 90 90 】.

Save and exit the editor when you are done.

There are modified files provided by AskVG.com. If you don't want to modify them manually, you can directly download the corresponding version files. Personally, you can use the modified files directly to save trouble.

Here, re-select the user name of the login user, click "Edit" in the middle, still select the computer name currently logged in, in the permission window below Check the permission of “Full Control”, click OK after completion, then a confirmation prompt will pop up, click “Yes”.

Get all the permissions of the file

This will get all the permissions of the file, you can replace it with the next step. Before replacing, it is recommended to rename the original file and keep it in the original directory, such as twinui_backup.dll.

After copying the modified file to the System32 directory, restart the computer.

Now, we can completely control the contents of the WinX menu, and add your usual shortcuts to the Group4 folder.

Add your favorite shortcuts to the Group4 folder.

If the system has some unstable conditions due to modification of the file, you can restore the original file backed up. The method is: first rename the modified file, then change the backup twinui_backup.dll back to the original name, and finally restart the computer to restore the original.
