IE10 default startup item setting in Win8

By default, Windows 8 Consumer Preview will open the corresponding version of IE according to your current usage environment. That is, if you are currently running a Metro app, the link will open in the Metro version of IE10. If you are running a desktop app, the link will open in the desktop version of IE10.

If you don't like the above solution, you can define it yourself. In the IE Properties dialog, you can change the settings in the "Programs" tab.

The way to change settings is very simple. You can enter keywords like "link", "by default", or "program" in the search box on the start screen. For example, the image below is Search for “default” results:

IE10 provides both Metro and desktop versions as the default browser. If IE is not the default browser, and you still want to use IE10 to open other programs. Link, then you can only use the desktop version of IE10, and you can't make the above changes. When IE10 is not the default browser, the IE attribute "Program" in the program "choose the way to open the link" is disabled.

How to quickly select the default browser? Enter " default" in the Windows 8 start screen, the start screen will search for applications, settings, files, etc. In the search results application, the default program will be included. Go to the default program control panel and select “Internet Explorer” or other browsers and set it as default.

Conclusion

IE10 gives you a full-screen, compelling website experience. We found a lot of people — — even the most passionate and strongest browsing mode — — prefer Metro style browsing, because it can reduce manual operations less, let you pay more attention to what you are browsing . Still, for some browsing, the desktop version of IE continues to play an important role. The browser's default startup settings allow you to change to the " compromise" experience.
