in Windows 8

Microsoft's integration of the Hyper-V Manager into a personal Windows 8 system is a big improvement. This improvement also illustrates the importance of virtualization and cloud computing in the IT industry. Hyper-V can be used to create Hyper-V directly on a personal computer. The specific method has been shared with you before. Next, take a look at some basic operations and applications of Hyper-V.

a. Connect to the virtual machine and boot

Double-click the virtual machine to be started in the Hyper-V Manager or right click on the virtual machine to be started to select “Start” Complete the operation of connecting to the virtual machine.

If the virtual machine is running, enter the virtual machine interface directly. If the virtual machine is not running, you can see the following screen:

Computer Common Sense

Tip, you can start the virtual machine by clicking Start “ under the "Operations" menu or by using the power button in the toolbar.

You can see the prompt “Starting the virtual machine” after booting.

Wait a moment to enter the system.

b. Disconnecting and shutting down the virtual machine

Directly closing the virtual machine connection window will disconnect from the virtual machine, but the virtual machine continues to run, taking up system resources, in Hyper The -V Manager displays the virtual machine "Running", double-clicking on the virtual machine will connect the interface before the virtual machine is closed.

There are many ways to shut down a virtual machine. You can shut it down by normal shutdown:

Or click the power button in the toolbar:

Also in “ Under Actions, select “Close":

or right click on the virtual machine directly in the Hyper-V Manager to select “Close”:

All non-system shutdown The method will give a prompt when shutting down, click “ close & rdquo; confirm to close the system, click & ldquo; do not close & rdquo; cancel the shutdown process. If you check "Don't ask me again", the confirmation process will no longer appear.

In addition to the normal shutdown, "save" in the above location is similar to the "hibernation" function in the physical machine, and "forced shutdown" is to cut off the power directly, which can be quickly realized. Shut down, but also face the situation that the saved files will be lost.

c. Mouse Control and Full Screen Mode

By default, when the mouse is fixed in the virtual machine, the desktop cannot be moved out, you can use Ctrl + Alt + Left (cursor left arrow) The mouse is released.

This shortcut can be changed in the Hyper-V settings. Select “Hyper-V Settings” under “Actions” on the right side of the main interface of the Hyper-V Manager.

In the pop-up dialog box, select “user” under the "mouse release button" to select the available shortcuts in the right window.

If you feel that it is not very convenient to operate in window mode, you can select “full screen mode"(Ctrl + Alt + Pause) under View “Menu".

After entering full screen mode, you can return to window mode by pressing the restore window button above the link bar.

d. Snapshot and restore

The so-called "snapshot" can be simple The understanding is as usual, "restore points". After the snapshot is set, you can restore it to the point in time when the snapshot is set. The changes made to the virtual machine after the snapshot will not be retained.

For example, if you need to test whether a certain software is compatible, or if you suspect that the downloaded software contains a virus, you can test it after creating a snapshot. If there is a problem, you can restore it through snapshot.

When creating a snapshot, you can do so via “Snapshot”(Ctrl + N) under the "Operations" menu.

After clicking "Snapshot", you will be prompted to modify the default name. If you click “no” then save the snapshot with the default name; if you need to rename the snapshot, enter the name of the snapshot and click “ is ”. If you select “Always use the default name” then the dialog will no longer pop up and save directly with the default name. (Default Name Format: Virtual Machine Name - Current Date, Time)

In the Hyper-V Manager, under the Snapshots category, the saved snapshots are sorted in chronological order. As shown in the figure below, the third behavior is the result of saving with the default name, and the fourth row is the snapshot saved after the rename.

After selecting the corresponding snapshot, you can see the category named by the snapshot under “Snapshot”, under which you can preview the virtual machine, save time, memory information and network when saving the snapshot. View information, etc.

Right-click on the snapshot name to rename and delete the snapshot. “Delete snapshot” means to delete only the selected snapshot; “delete the snapshot subtree> means to delete the selected snapshot and all snapshots after the point in time.

As shown below, the result of deleting the snapshot subtree on the default naming scheme (Hyper-V Windows 8 – 2012/12/18 – 22:13:31):

You need to restore the saved snapshot. You can select “Restore” under the <quo;Actions" menu in the linked virtual machine.

After confirming the restore, you can restore the virtual machine to the snapshot state at the most recent point in time.

The linked virtual machine sees the prompt being restored. After waiting for a while, you can see that the virtual machine's screen has returned to the snapshot time.

In addition, in the snapshot category in the Hyper-V Manager, right-click on the specified snapshot and select “Apply” to restore to the specified snapshot time point.

In the process of confirming the application, if you select “Get Snapshot and Apply", the snapshot will be saved as the default name for the current virtual machine state and the virtual machine will be restored to the selected point-in-time snapshot state. If you select "Application", then only the virtual machine is restored without taking a snapshot.

The following picture selects the snapshot as “ takes a snapshot and applies ” new snapshot generated.

In addition, you can also select “Set> on the right button of the snapshot to view the virtual machine properties of the snapshot point.

e Screenshots

When the linked virtual machine is running, you can use the <quo;clip screen"> Display the content for a screenshot.

The significance of this is that you can intercept images that cannot be captured in some hosts, such as:

Startup Screen ——

Lock Screen ——

Shutdown Screen ——

The captured image will be saved in the clipboard. If you need to save it, you can open the drawing and other tools and paste it before saving.
