Windows 8 interface details

From the desktop to Metro/Modern, from Aero UI to Metro UI, do you know that the detailed interface of Windows 8 is improved and streamlined compared to Windows 7?

We have four development previews from Windows 8 The comparison of the versions shows that the basic interface of Windows 8 is divided into two parts, the traditional desktop from Windows 7 and the Metro/Modern interface for tablets. These two parts of the interface are mainly connected by the “Charm menu"/the super button. Let's take a look at the details.

From “Desktop> to "Metro/Modern"

For many people, "Desktop" is Windows, "Desktop" has files, programs, But the main body is still a file. A considerable part of the program software is generated for generating, editing, modifying and deleting files. At the same time, in many people's eyes, the program software is composed of one file.

Traditional desktop interface

And for "Metro/Modern", the application is the main body, "Metro/Modern" interface is like a closed box, I don't know how it is inside. To make up, just click on the app icon to browse and view something.

Metro/Modern Interface

In Windows 8, these two interfaces actually represent two kinds of UI, Aero UI and Metro/Modern UI.

From Win7 to Win8

Windows 7 has been identified as the best operating system in Microsoft's history (don't miss XP a decade ago), and Windows 8 is based on Win7. Also added support for tablets. In addition, the main design style has also changed from Win 7's Aero UI to Metro UI style. For more details, please refer to the Metroization of Windows 8 Traditional Desktop.

Areo UI

Windows Aero is a new user interface from Vista and the best-designed user interface in the Windows family. In particular, the more mature Aero interface in Win7, combined with the subtle effects of dynamic reflection and smooth animation, attracted many XP users at the time.

"Aero” is a shortening of the four words Authentic, Energetic, Reflective, and Open, as described in these four,

Under Aero visual effects, the window's border looks like a translucent frosted glass effect. This visual effect (Aero Glass) is combined with window animation and graphics functions such as Aero Shake, Aero Flip 3D, Aero Snap, and Aero Peek. The Aero interface with visual impact and appearance is one of the desktop features of the Win7 system.

But in the Win8 system, the translucent glass visual effects Aero Glass has been removed (except for the bottom toolbar), while other Aero desktop experiences Aero Shake, Aero Snap, and Aero Peek are retained.

(Transparency adjustment options have been removed in the personalization settings)

Microsoft removed Aero Glass because it does not match the overall design style regression design of Windows 8, instead of Aero Glass The overall interface color is a flat solid color, and the window color is gray when the focus is lost. This is very helpful in reducing CPU and GPU load, reducing resource consumption and configuration, especially for tablets that are not very hardware configured.

Added: Aero Peek in Win8 is actually semi-reserved. Why is it semi-reserved? Because the desktop preview is not displayed when the mouse is placed in the bottom right corner in Win8, but pressed The Alt+Tab key will bring up a desktop perspective preview (the rest of the windows are transparent wireframes, which is less obvious than Win 7). In addition, the familiar small rectangle will still appear in the bottom right corner, and all windows on the desktop will be minimized. Click again to resume. In fact, the reason why the Aero Peek effect is removed by half is that it conflicts with the callout of the “Super Button” menu, because both slide the mouse to the lower right corner of the desktop. Of course, if you are annoyed with it, there is a little trick to hide the Charm menu.
