How to rebuild Windows 10 search index

Friends of Windows may use Windows search function, especially when there are many files, using the search function will allow us to index faster and find the required files. However, if you upgrade from an older version of Windows to Windows 10 or the index path is not configured correctly, the search results may be incomplete. At this point, we need to rebuild the Windows 10 search index to fix this problem.
What is the Windows 10 Search Index?
In the gradual deepening and evolution of the Windows version, a lot of metadata features describing the contents of the file have been added. For example, in Windows 10, music files contain: a lot of descriptive information such as title, artist, album, genre, and so on. With this description, the user can find the corresponding music file more easily.
Prior to Windows Vista, the search function only read some simple features of the current file, such as: creation date, file name, file size, and so on. Microsoft introduced a new indexing technology from Windows 7, which will index the entire file content as the default basic indexing function, and index and store the rich metadata features available in the file.
In a nutshell, it is to retrieve the file attributes (including the extended attributes of the file) and the contents of the document on the disk, and then write a search result on the disk. When we search for files, Windows will quickly find and feed back to the user in this retrieved index result. This process is similar to the process of looking up the dictionary.
When an error occurs in our index file, the search results will be abnormal. For example, searching for slow files, not searching for files, etc., requires us to rebuild the Windows 10 search index file.

By default, Windows 10 will enable ”index returner to ensure that Windows does not incur excessive CPU load when indexing files, and Windows 10 will automatically detect user operations and usage activity when it is discovered. The user's active operation will automatically start and update the index file at a low speed or stop. Therefore, the process of establishing a user index with more files will be slower, but once the index is successfully rebuilt, we can achieve a quick search!
