Not long ago, leaked online Windows 8.1 Build 9364 there had been a & ldquo; slide off (Slide to Shutdown) & rdquo; function, but Now that months have passed, this feature has rarely been mentioned, and it has gradually faded out of people's horizons. Slidetoshutdown.exe still exists in the Windows 8.1 RTM leaked last week, but we didn't see the actual demo. Microsoft apparently hid some details of the feature in the "Windows Help file" (press the F1 key).
Win8.1 RTM Slide Shutdown
According to the Windows Help file, if your device is running Windows 8.1 Preview or Windows RT 8.1 Preview, and the device supports <;Network Standby", then you can Use the “Slide Shutdown” function to achieve a quick shutdown: press and hold the power button for about 4 seconds until the “Slide to Shutdown” option appears on the screen, then you just slide the lock screen down (or The mouse drag and drop) screen, you can perform the shutdown operation, similar to the shutdown operation on Windows Phone.
However, according to the current experiment, when running CMD and executing the powercfg /availablesleepstates command to confirm whether to support "network standby", the feedback result is an error message: the system firmware does not support the connected standby state. . As for what is "networking standby" status, Microsoft said that in fact, it is to implement the power mode on the smart phone on the PC, users can experience instant on/off as well as operating the mobile phone, it needs to meet specific Windows certification requirements and low Power consumption of the PC platform.
