Standard Edition

Windows 8 Standard Edition (generally called Windows 8/Windows 8 Core): For ordinary users, Windows 8 is the best choice. RT

Windows RT: This is a new member of the Windows family and the official name of Windows on ARM (WOA). Windows RT focuses on the ARM platform and is not sold separately, only pre-installed. Windows RT will include desktop versions of Microsoft Word
, Excel
, PowerPoint and OneNote optimized for touch operations, but does not allow installation of other desktop software, which can be developed via WinRT. The environment creates a Metro app for it.

Windows RT has a lot of the same features as Windows 8:

Windows RT also includes a few different features:

Windows Update and Windows Defender are always up and up to date, making your PC more secure. Device encryption provides advanced data protection to help you protect your information. The PC can be turned on immediately by connecting to standby. Pre-installed Office Home & Student 2013 RT Preview

Windows RT does not support the following features:

Windows Media Player Windows Media Center creates a home group (you can join an existing family group, but Cannot create a new home group) Join a domain

Note:

1 Although you can install the application directly from the Windows Store, you cannot install the application on the Windows RT desktop.

2. Pre-installed Office 2013 RT Home and Student Preview, with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote optimized for touch.

3. You can only install printers, mice, keyboards, and other devices that have been verified with Windows RT.
