Resetting the Winsock Directory to solve the problem of successfully connecting to the network but not being able to access the Internet

Sometimes, we will encounter problems that can successfully connect to the network but cannot access the Internet. The network connection icon in the system tray in the lower right corner of the screen is displayed normally, but it is unable to access the Internet and cannot open the webpage. Or it is a problem that the display network is limited and the IP address cannot be obtained automatically. Then in this case, we can try to reset the Winsock directory to solve.

Winsock is a Windows
network programming interface that works at the application layer and provides a high-level data transfer programming interface independent of the underlying transport protocol. So if the Winsock protocol configuration problem, it will lead to the above network connection problem.

In fact, Microsoft Chiefs mentioned the method of resetting the Winsock directory in the previous article "Win8.1 can't switch to Microsoft Microsoft account, error oxd0000072a". Here is a special introduction.

First run the command prompt window as an administrator (Win7 runs the command prompt as an administrator |  Win8.1 runs the command prompt as an administrator), and then enter the command:

netsh winsock reset

After the run is complete, you will be prompted “ Successfully reset the Winsock directory. You must restart your computer to complete the reset. ” Follow the prompts to restart computer
.

PS: This command can also try to solve the problem of opening the web page. It can't automatically obtain the IP address or specify the IP address. There is still no data packet transmission. When using the Bluetooth adapter to transfer files, it prompts “ Protocol incompatible address & rdquo; and other network protocol application related issues
