Talking about the effectiveness of several system backup methods for data protection

Because I tried the system restore very early (of course, XP comes with it), the effect is very poor, so I changed to reinstall the system. Later, although I used Ghost to see a one-click restore function, I have never used it because of the preconceived relationship. Still continue my way to reload the format. This time, if it is not because the data is almost lost, I will not consider the backup. But now I have tried and found that the backup is really useless.

This is true, backup is useless. Don't think that you can back up your computer

, and once you have a problem, especially when facing data loss, more backups are useless. Now I will talk about backups with my own trials this week.

One-click restore of Ghost

When you use it for the first time, you can only select backup by default, you can't choose restore. Because you have to back up your computer first, you can restore it. The backup file you made is placed in the folder named Ghost on the last disk. There is also a document prompt in this folder "Do not delete the backup folder". Usually the files backed up will be close to 1 G. Also quite space-consuming. If this file is useful, it will take up space, but the problem is useless.

Single use Ghost XP to restore the system, the backup is just the C drive! Just C drive! Or in other words, the backup is the system, just the system.

A lot of people say that backup is useful, and backup is convenient. It is only when the computer has some problems, you can use the backup to restore to the backup. For example, when reinstalling the system. In fact, the backup recovery time is longer than the installed system. But there is a benefit (I think it can be a bad thing), that is, for example, you are doing a backup after all the software is installed after the system is reinstalled, then all the software is still after the backup is restored. But there are two problems. 1. For example, if you install a software A on the C drive after the backup, then after the backup is restored, the software A does not. 2. You installed a software B in the C drive, made a backup, and then found that the software B is a virus, the computer is paralyzed, what do you do? Backup recovery? After recovery, Software B is still there!

So I don't want to back up. When the computer goes wrong, formatting and reloading is relatively thorough. Of course, the experiment I did backup was not for this, but to back up the data in my remaining partitions. But relying on these one-button restores that come with the system is useless.

PE system Ghost clone

With this backup, you can back up the data in the computer, but there is also a problem. That is, the size of the file being backed up is almost the same as the original data. Even if it is compressed with high compression, it is not compressed. The size of the compression can be ignored. Just make that data into an image file of the same size. So it's called cloning, not a backup.

The backup can't backup the data, the clone is even more useless. After all, what I want to keep is the information. I keep the data in that form. All I want is to keep my information in the smallest space.

Unfortunately, through this week's trial and error comparison, I only came to a conclusion, there is no good way. Want to keep, only spend money.

Two reliable backup methods

Two ways, one is to buy a CD, and the other is to buy a mobile hard disk. Disc burning is not cost effective. Take 500G data as an example, the 4.5G CD is calculated according to 5G, and it is also 100, one by one, and the other is 150. If the recorder is used, the optical drive of the notebook usually comes with it. Bought it. I have to buy more than 100 in general, and how to add up to 300. Moreover, the disc is easy to break, it is easy to scratch without paying attention, and the burning is not so smooth every time. In addition, each piece has an upper limit. Once you encounter a single file size that exceeds the upper limit, you will have a headache. Anyway, I have not tried it anymore. And it takes about 8 minutes to burn a CD. So it is not recommended to burn discs.

Mobile hard drive is the best way to retain data. After all, the probability of two hard drives being damaged at the same time is still relatively small. It’s just because of the flooding, the price has risen sharply, so I decided to wait until the price has recovered before I start.

I really have no other way to keep the information. Whoever has a better way to retain information must be shared, I beg.

Not everyone can understand my feelings. It has been nearly 10 years since I started playing computer in the third grade. It’s been very streamlined to keep only less than 200G in 10 years. What I keep is what I can't find online and on the market. Many things are gone in that village and there is no such store. There are also a lot of things that I have been looking for but I can't always find them. I still don't want to give up looking.

Someone also poured cold water on me, saying that the things you reserved are not often used, why bother to keep such a big thing. It’s just that he doesn’t understand. I keep more than just those things. It’s more of a kind of memory. I feel very solid if I can look it up occasionally.

If it wasn't for this reloading event, I was too lazy to write these things, to do experiments, to take pictures, to be pictures, and to text, really tired. I didn't do anything else in the evening, and the animations and movies underneath didn't look at it, let alone play the game. The purpose of doing this is just to make people who have the same thoughts with me not be so desperate when they encounter the same problem.

Banmen get axe, because I don't have a lot. And I am not a computer professional. I just sincerely describe the ones I have. I only hope that I can use it for everyone. I can save some time and save a little money.
