Win10 TH2 official version supports Win7/Win8.1 key activation from November

After Microsoft released Windows 10, Windows 7 and 8.1 users can upgrade to Windows 10 for free. In order to activate the new operating system, users need to upgrade directly and wait for it to be automatically verified by Microsoft server. Once authenticated, Windows 10 users can easily perform a clean installation because the product key is tied to the user's Microsoft account and the existing hardware configuration.

Starting with Win10 Preview 10565, Microsoft has allowed new users to activate the version directly with their existing Win7/Win8.1 key after installing Windows10. However, due to the lower version of the official version, the current treatment is not available.

Gabe Aul, head of Windows Insider Program, said that the latest test board for Windows 10 has adopted a new activation method. It will not be activated automatically after installation. Users can enter existing Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 product key to activate Windows 10 on the same device.

But after upgrading the new version in November, the official version of Win10 can also be activated directly via Windows7/Windows 8.1, without having to go through the upgrade installation process. This is undoubtedly much more convenient for users who have "system cleanliness" After all, upgrading installations will face various compatibility problems more or less, and even lead to serious problems such as installation failure.

Maybe this is a bit unfair to Win10 hardcore fans, because many users who are keen to experience the free version of Win10 feel the process of upgrading and installing, and the taste may be …… In fact, think about it from another angle, this is still very fair. Although some users have experienced some ups and downs, it is the first batch of people who “eat crabs”, and they have tasted the taste of Win10 earlier than those who waited directly for “perfect experience”. And also experience the fun of growing up with Win10, so there is no need to have it.

In any case, it is more convenient to install Win10 in the future, especially for devices that have not installed a new system. Of course, this benefit has no effect on computers that have been installed and successfully activated Win10, because these computers can be activated directly in theory no matter how they are installed in the future.
