Microsoft has changed the activation rules for Win10. Reinstall activation can not use the key

Microsoft has changed the activation rules of the Win10 system. After reinstalling, activation can be done without using a key. Compared to previous operating systems such as Win7/Win8.1, the new rules make reloading easier.

The reason why reloading does not require a key can be activated because Microsoft has stored activation information in the cloud. When you reinstall the system, it will automatically authenticate in the cloud when it is connected. In the previous operating system, every time you reinstall the system, you will be asked to enter the key (except for pre-installed Windows8/Windows 8.1 computers, because the activation key is already embedded in the computer hardware), otherwise it will not be activated.

When you reinstall Windows 10, although the installer will ask for a key, you can choose to skip it. After the reinstallation is completed, the Win10 system will be automatically activated, because it will automatically determine whether the computer has been installed and activated Win10 during cloud verification.

For a long time, Microsoft's product activation relies on computer hardware hashes. The hardware hash is unique, and the algorithm is irreversible and is not tied to any Microsoft service. It is only related to the computer hardware itself. . In older versions of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, etc., when the system is first activated, it is recorded in the activation database along with the hardware hash (installation ID) and the key used for activation. When the user reinstalls the system on the same computer, it will be activated automatically after entering the same key.

When upgrading to Win10, the Win10 installer checks the system activation status and reports it to the activation server. The Windows Activation Server activates the system by generating a license based on the hardware hash and the activated Win10 version (Home, Professional, or other). Reloading is also required to verify the hardware hash as well as the system version, without requiring the user to enter an activation key.
