Can I downgrade after upgrading Windows 10? (repent within 30 days)

Windows10 operating system will be officially released 10 days later (July 29th), when Windows7, Windows 8.x users will be free to upgrade. For other users, the Windows 10 Home Edition is priced at $119 (approximately RMB 739), and the Professional Edition is priced at $199 (approximately RMB 1,235).

After asking questions, after upgrading Windows10, if you don't like it, you can repent and choose to downgrade?

The answer given by Microsoft is yes, Microsoft will give users a 30-day grace period. Once the user decides to abandon Windows 10, they can revert to the previous Windows version.

In the Windows Insider program, Microsoft provides the "rollback" feature through the Windows 10 Technology Preview.

In the recently launched Build 10240, the operating system clearly stated that users can select “downgrade" in one month. This version is widely considered to be the final version available to PC vendors.

In the previous technology preview, users clicked on the new start menu, navigated to the "Settings" screen, select "Update & Security", and then click on the left. “Recovery” in the navigation panel, you can see the “downgrade” option, including “Reset this PC”, “Restore the previous version of Windows”, and “Restore the previous version” and “Advanced Startup” ; (Advanced startup).

Selecting the second option will return the system to its pre-Windows 10 state. Choosing to reset the PC will result in a clean Windows 10 being installed on the machine.

If it is more than 30 days, users still have the opportunity to downgrade, which may be achieved through other system recovery methods.

Windows 10 will be available worldwide on July 29th. This operating system includes many new features, including Cortana virtual assistant, a new start menu experience, a new Edge browser, multi-tasking virtual desktop and snap-in capabilities, optimized for hybrids and variants, and a new desktop background. .

Microsoft will offer Windows 10 in batches, and the company promises that those participating in the beta program will receive the new operating system in the first place.

Before media said that Microsoft Windows 10 will only be free to update for two to four years, after that will provide system updates and support. However, this news proved wrong. Microsoft's latest document shows that the Windows 10 system will receive a free ten-year update and support.

In addition, the system service life cycle page of Microsoft Windows official website updated the information about Win10 system. The page shows that the Windows 10 mainstream support service released in July 2015 (providing functional updates) ends at 2020. On October 13, the extended support service (continuing to release security patches) ended on October 14, 2025 for a total of ten years.
