Microsoft reiterates: Windows 10 upgrade is only free for Insider members

Microsoft reiterates that Windows Insider members who reinstall Windows 10 Preview can upgrade and activate Windows 10 RTM for free, regardless of whether they have a Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 license. The announcement was released last Saturday. On Sunday, Microsoft quietly removed instructions on whether it will remain active, leaving only instructions for upgrading from genuine Windows 7/8.1. This caused confusion, but Gabe Aul reiterated that the Cleaner Windows 10 Preview version of the Insider member will upgrade Windows 10 for free and remain active.

Now you may be wondering why Microsoft’s repeated revisions are confusing. Simply put, they do this intentionally to cover up the content behind them. Shortly after the initial announcement, several media began publishing articles such as "How to get Windows 10" for free. This is not what Microsoft wants to see, and continues to promote only Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 genuine users to upgrade Windows 10 for free.

It seems that the upgrade of the Insider member from the preview version to the RTM version does not require a genuine license. You will remain active (if you want to upgrade the installation once, you can install it purely), but you won't get a genuine license. Of course, this is not something that ordinary users need to worry about.

All in all, Microsoft acquiesced in the fact that Insider members are looking for free activation of Windows 10 RTM copies, but their public message is still "you need Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 license to upgrade Windows." & rdquo; This is good news for users who have installed the preview version on older Windows systems, you can upgrade to Windows 10 without downgrading!
