Win8 comes with anti-virus software Defender to prevent the modification of the hosts file solution

The hosts file is a system file whose role is to associate the URL domain name with the corresponding IP database”. When we modify the hosts file, Windows Defender, the security software built into Win8 system, will interfere. How to prevent this behavior of Windows Defender?

In fact, just set it as follows.

Open Windows Defender, switch to the "Settings" tab, click on the "Exclude files and locations" option on the left, as shown in the figure:

on the right In the window, click the "Browse" button, navigate to C:\\Windows\\System32\\Drivers\\etc\\hosts, then click the “Add” button, and finally click “Save Changes”.

This way, when you modify the hosts file, Windows Defender will not block it.

One of the functions of the Hosts file is to speed up domain name resolution. Modifying the Hosts file not only speeds up domain name resolution, but also has many other functions, such as canceling the ads of the Win8 built-in application.
