C disk space release 27 strokes! Use Vista without XP

Today, I mainly talk about the Windows operating system. In the case of insufficient C disk space, we can increase the C disk space through those specific means.

1. Open "My Computer" - "Tools" - "Folder Options" - "View" - check the "Show all files and folders" option - "OK".

2. Delete the contents of the following folder:
x:Documents and Settings Username Cookies all files (retain index file)
x:Documents and Settings username under Local SettingsTemp All files (user temporary files)
x:Documents and Settings user name LocalSettingsTemporaryInternet Files all files (page files)
x:Documents and Settings user name Local SettingsHistory all files (history)
x:Documents and Settings all files under the user name Recent (shortcuts for browsing files recently)
x: all files under WINDOWSTemp (temporary files)
x:WINDOWSServicePackFiles (upgrading files after sp1 or sp2)
x: WINDOWSDriver Cachei386 compressed file (driver backup file)
x: WINDOWSSoftwareDistributiondownload under all files

3. If the system has been windoes updade upgrade, delete the following files:
x: hidden files starting with $u... under windows

4. Then defragment the disk and quit all running programs during the defragmentation process.

5. Open the "Start" - "Programs" - "Accessories" - "System Tools" - "System Restore" - "Create a Restore Point" (preferably with the current date as a restore point) name) .

6. Open "My Computer" - right click on the system disk - "Properties" - "Disk Cleanup" - "Other Options" - click "Clean" in the System Restore column - select "Yes" -ok.

7, after the installation of various software and hardware, in fact, XP needs to update the file when there are very few. Delete the system backup file: Start → Run → sfc.exe /purgecache nearly 3xxM. (The purpose of this command is to immediately clear the "Windows File Protection" file cache, freeing up the space it occupies)

8. Delete the dll file under /windows/system32/dllcache (minus 200 - 300mb), this is the alternate dll file, as long as you have copied the installation file, you can do so.

9, XP will automatically back up the hardware driver, but after the hardware driver is installed correctly, it is generally not possible to change the hardware, so you can also consider deleting this backup, the file is located in /windows/driver In the cache/i386 directory, the name is driver.cab, you can delete it directly, usually this file is 74M.

10, delete the input method: For many users, the input method of Windows XPt system is not all suitable for their own use, such as IMJP8_1 Japanese input method, IMKR6_1 Korean input method If you don't need it, we can remove it. The input method is located in the /windows/ime/folder, which takes up 88M of space.

11, upgrade completed Windows/many more like $NtUninstallQ311889$ these directories, do it, 1x-3xM

12, in addition, keep the /windows/help directory It hurts me, huh, huh. . . Get rid of it!

13. Turn off system restore: The system restore function takes a long time and takes up a lot of hard disk space. Therefore, it is necessary to manually set it to reduce the amount of hard disk usage. Open the System Properties dialog, select the System Restore option, and select the Turn off system restore on all drives check box to turn off System Restore. You can also set restores only on the disk or partition where the system is located. First select the partition where the system is located, click the "Configure" button, in the pop-up dialog box, cancel the "Close the system restore of this drive" option, and set the amount of disk space for system restore.

14, the hibernation function will take up a lot of hard disk space, if you use less, you can close it, the way to close is: open the "Control Panel", double-click "Power Options", the "Power" pops up In the Options Properties dialog box, select the Hibernate tab and deselect the Enable Hibernate check box.

15. Uninstalling Unused Components: XP installs some system components to the operating system by default, and a large part of these components are not available to you at all. You can add or remove Windows components. Unload them.

But some of the components XP are hidden by default. They can't be found in "Add/Remove Windows Components". You can do this by opening /windows/inf/sysoc.inf with Notepad. File, use the Find/Replace function to replace all the "hide" characters in the file with null. In this way, the hidden attributes of all components are removed. After saving and exiting the "Add-Remove Programs", you will see a lot of options that you could not see, and delete those components that you can't use. (Remember to save as sysoc.inf when saving, instead of the default sysoc.txt), such as Internat messenger service, fax service, Windows messenger, code table, etc., about vacating nearly 50MB of space.

16, clear the system temporary files: the system's temporary files are generally stored in two locations: a Temp folder in the Windows installation directory; the other is x: /Documents and Settings "username" /Local Settings/Temp folder (Y: is the partition where the system is located). Files in both locations can be deleted directly.

17. Clear Temporary Internet Files: Regularly delete a large number of temporary Internet files generated during Internet access, which will save a lot of hard disk space. Open Internet Explorer, select "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu, select the "General" tab in the pop-up dialog box, click the "Delete Files" button in the "Temporary Internet Files" column, and pop up " In the Delete File dialog box, select the "Delete all offline content" check box and click the "OK" button.

18, clear pre-read files: Windows XP pre-read settings can improve the system speed, but after using for a period of time, the number of files in the pre-read folder will become quite large, resulting in system search costs Time is getting longer. Moreover, some applications generate dead link files, which further burdens the system search. Therefore, these read-ahead files should be deleted periodically. It is expected that the files will be stored in the Prefetch folder of the Windows XP system folder, and all files under this folder can be deleted.

19, compressed NTFS drive, file or folder: If your hard disk is using NTFS file system, space 翟诮粽  梢 梢 悸瞧粲肗 悸瞧粲肗 悸瞧粲肗 TFS compression function. Right-click the drive you want to compress - "Properties" - "General" - "Compress Disk to save disk space", then click "OK", select the desired option in "Confirm Property Changes". This saves about 20% of your hard drive space. When compressing the C drive, it is best to compress it in safe mode, which is better.

20. Close Dr. Watson: To close Dr. Watson, open the Registry Editor, find the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/AeDebug" branch, and double-click the Auto key under it. Name, change its "Value Data" to 0, and finally press F5 to refresh the settings, thus canceling its operation. Also enter "drwtsn32" command in "Start"->"Run", or "Start"->"Program"->"Accessories"->"System Tools"->"System Information"-> "Tools"-> "Dr Watson", call the Dr. Watson in the system, only the "dump all thread context" option, otherwise the hard disk will read for a long time and take up a lot of space. If this is the case before, please look for the user.dmp file, which can save tens of megabytes of space after deletion.

21, close the remote desktop: "My Computer" -> "Properties" -> "Remote", "Remote Desktop" in the "Allow users to remotely connect to this computer" tick off.

22, cancel XP to ZIP support: Windows XP opens the support for zip files by default, which takes up certain system resources, you can choose "Start → Run", in the "Run" dialog box Type "regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll" and press Enter to cancel XP's support for ZIP decompression, saving system resources.

23, close the error report: When the application error occurs, a window to send an error report will pop up. In fact, such an error report has almost no meaning to the average user. It is a wise choice to close it. In the "System Properties" dialog box, select the "Advanced" tab, click the "Error Report" button, in the "Error Reporting" dialog box that pops up, select the "Disable Error Reporting" option, and finally click "OK" can. In addition, we can also close the error report from Group Policy: type "gpedit.msc" from "Run", run "Group Policy Editor", expand "Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → System → Error Reporting Function", double click the right setting "Report Error" in the column, you can disable "Report Error" by selecting the "Disabled" radio button in the pop-up "Properties" dialog box.

24, turn off the unused devices: Windows XP always install drivers and manage all the devices on the computer as much as possible, which not only slows down the system startup, but also causes a lot of system resources. Occupied. In this case, you can disable the less commonly used devices such as PCMCIA card, modem, infrared device, printer port (LPT1) or serial port (COM1) in the device manager by double-clicking the device to be deactivated. Select "Do not use this device (disabled)" in the "General" tab of its properties dialog. The settings are valid when the settings are restarted, and are enabled from the device manager when they are needed.

25, regularly clean up the system restore point: open the disk cleanup, select other options -> clean up the system restore point, click clean.

26, uninstall the unwanted programs, this does not need me to say more

27, other optimization:

a install the application software on other hard drives (do not install Under the system disk, this is also good for reinstalling the system);

b Move the "My Documents" folder to another partition: Right click on the "My Documents" icon on the desktop, select "Properties"->"Move";

c Move the IE temporary folder to another partition: Open IE and select "Tools" -> "internet option" -> "General" ->"Settings"->"Move Folders";

d Transfer virtual memory to other hard disks;

e Point the pagefile.sys file to one place: Control Panel → System → Performance - Advanced → Virtual Memory → Change, note that the "Settings" will take effect;

f Right-click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and select "Properties" -> "Advanced - Performance Settings" -> "Advanced - Virtual Memory", adjusted to 330-720. And regular cleaning.
