Getting started: How to set up a VPN client

Q: The unit has recently set up a VPN network, which makes it more secure when it comes to file transfer with the company. Since it has just contacted VPN, how can I connect to the company on the client?

A: We take the client as the Windows 2000 Professional system as an example:

(1) First, you need to ensure that the client computer can access the Internet, then right click on the desktop "Neighbors" and click "Properties" from the pop-up shortcut menu, then click "New Connection" in the pop-up window, the Network Connection Wizard will open;

(2) Check "Connect to the Internet" "Private network" item, click Next, there will be a wizard window asking to select the public network type. For users who use DSL or cable modem and fixed IP Internet access, you can choose "Do not dial the initial connection". Users (such as ADSL) need to select the "Automatically dial this initial connection" item and select an Internet dial-up connection from the list;

(3) Click "Next", then you need to set the address of the VPN server. Here we can enter the server's IP address or hostname, and then click "Next", in this step we need to set whether Users can use the virtual connection to complete the dial-up connection of the virtual network. Then double-click the virtual icon created in the "Network and Dial-up Connection" window to trigger the Internet dial-up connection. Finally, enter the username and password. You can connect to a remote VPN server.
