Microsoft Tests Windows 10 New Restore Tool

Computer Store News: Windows 10 has built-in tools to clean up applications and data to fix system problems or erase all data when users are ready to sell computers. Microsoft has now added a new refresh tool for the Windows 10 beta. This refresh tool is currently only available to Windows testers. After the new tool is launched, it will take a copy of Windows online and perform a fresh install.

The only option is to ask if the user wants to keep personal data. This tool will remove any installed software, including various applications and utilities, as well as various software pre-installed by OEMs.

The tool is currently in the preview phase and has some quirks that will install the Windows 10 preview version of the Fast Track, but Microsoft pointed out that the new tool may sometimes install an older version than the current version. When this version mismatch occurs, the user cannot retain the existing data.

Microsoft has provided this tool in Windows 10 build 14367. With the release date of Microsoft Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Microsoft will soon fix the problems in the tool.
