Win10: Microsoft will abandon key activation mode

Computer store news: Microsoft will release the official version of Win10 on July 29, except for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users can upgrade Windows 10 for free, those who have installed Windows 10 technology preview Windows internal program participants can also be upgraded for free. Now, Microsoft seems to be working to simplify the Windows user activation process and may no longer need a product key.

Within the Store (Beta) app for Windows 10 Build 10147, there are two new apps called Windows 10 Core and Windows 10 Pro. The application list does not give additional information, it seems that the app will allow users to more easily activate their copy of Windows 10.

The application marks Microsoft's efforts to remove product keys for Windows activation. These apps make it easy for users to update or activate Windows 10 from the store without using long product keys. The app binds Windows user licenses to Microsoft accounts, making it easier for them to get an active copy of Windows. Of course, this is only our guess.

However, obtaining an activation license through in-app purchases is a more convenient way, and I believe Microsoft will think so. The way the product key has been around for many years has become more and more old. It may be time to say goodbye to the product key and say hello to the new way of the future.
