WP8/WP8.1 Japan is hard to find

Computer shop news: Kantar latest data shows that although Windows Phone performs well in Europe, its performance in Japan is not satisfactory, even worse than BlackBerry.

The 0% market share in Japan in Kantar data is partly due to the lack of operators in WP in Japan. Japanese operator KDDI Chairman Takashi Tanaka said in an interview that there is currently no plan to sell WP8 or WP8.1 devices.

KDDI's last WP device is the Toshiba IS12T (below). This WP device uses a 13 megapixel rear camera and 32GB body storage for waterproofing. KDDI sold the device in 2011, but since then WP devices have disappeared.

If Microsoft wants to open the Japanese market, it must once again look for local OEMs. It seems that Sony is a good choice. Unless Microsoft can do this, Kantar's WP Japan data will remain unchanged.
