Microsoft Edge is exposed to browse data in privacy mode

Computer Store News: According to Microsoft's plan, the deployment of Edge on Windows 10 should be an important step in the company's development, but new research results may make this plan less successful. It is reported that Edge's InPrivate may not look as private. According to Ashish Singh's research, access data under InPrivate can be recovered from the user's hard disk through WebCache files.

The data of the visited website is stored in the same "Container_n" table as the traditional browsing history. Whether or not it is in privacy mode, an attacker can retrieve the entire browsing history of the user by retrieving this form.

Foreign media TheVerge also tried this and confirmed some of Singh's conclusions that they were able to access WebCache files on Windows 10 and restore the website data accessed in a privacy mode, but they did not find it. The Container_n form also does not fully restore all of the web history history accessed in privacy mode, and it seems that these are very professional talents that may be implemented.

In response, Microsoft confirmed to The Verge that they are currently investigating Singh's findings. “We have recently noticed a report about InPrivate's inability to follow the design.” We promise to resolve this issue as soon as possible," a Microsoft spokesperson responded.
