Windows 10 Mobile was found to have traffic BUG

Computer store news: Although the free strategy and various auxiliary means to make Windows 10 installed capacity quickly exceeded 200 million units, but the development of the mobile version is rugged. In addition to delaying the system release several times, Brett Howse, editor of the well-known foreign evaluation blog AnandTech, found that the Lumia 950 XL being used in January had more traffic than in the past.

Monitoring through the Data Sense software has resulted in a process called "System" that consumed more than 900MB of traffic in the past 17 days.

Then Howse communicated with the users of the Windows 10 Mobile system on this issue and found that this was not a case. These users have reported the same problem, and the culprit is to automatically back up text messages to OneDrive in the settings, so if you use a new phone or clean the current phone, it will resume. It should be noted that the traffic consumed by backing up these text messages is not very large, but this should also be done over a WiFi network. Howse said that if the bug is fixed he will restart this feature.

This feature has appeared on the WP system for a certain period of time and usually needs to be set to off. After turning off this setting, you can reduce traffic usage to normal. In the main window of the SMS app, click the “...” button in the bottom right corner of the bottom, select Settings, then close Message Sync.

In addition to the SMS sync feature, which consumes so much traffic, a new feature is available in the Windows 10 Mobile system - allowing backup of already installed apps to OneDrive. This feature consumes a lot of network traffic. The foreign media contacted Microsoft on the matter. A Microsoft spokesperson said: “We have received feedback from some users about undesired traffic usage. We are currently investigating. ”

Naturally this feature can also be turned off in the backup options, user access settings - "Update & Security - Backup -" more options, you can choose to cancel the background automatic backup application.

The solution currently available is not official, was posted by a Microsoft employee on a Reddit post, and was later shared by Paul Thurrott on Thurrott.com. This at least fixes the problem with the Lumia 950 XL in the foreign media. In the last 24 hours, the “System” process consumed only 0.5MB of traffic.
