Windows 8/RT touch response speed

Computer Store News: If you are using a Windows 8/Windows RT computer with a touch screen, a trick is mentioned in the XDA-Developers forum that may be helpful. This method mainly improves the response of the touch experience by modifying the registry, especially the small object operations of the on-screen keyboard and desktop environment.

The specific modification method is:

  • Run –> Regedit Enter to open the registry editor
  • Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE \\Microsoft\\TouchPredict, edit the value of Latency to “2”, the value of SampleTime is “2”
  • Restart the system

Or you can download this touch-enabled.zip , run “modify.reg” perform the above modifications, or run “restore.reg” restore defaults.

However, the caveat is that this modification may affect the battery life of Windows 8. You can test it yourself and make a trade-off to see if it is worthwhile to modify it. Battery life may also be the reason why Microsoft chose the default value of <8”.
