The US Department of Defense took the lead in giving Microsoft a big order. They spent $617 million to purchase the license and prepare for a thorough upgrade of the old Windows operating system from the Ministry of Defense.
According to the agreement, the Army, Air Force and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) are ready to use the latest Microsoft Office 2013, SharePoint 2013 and Windows 8.

Some officials said that the security enhancements and content management customization packages in Office 2013 can meet the specific security needs of the US Department of Defense. For the price of $6.17, the Department of Defense also said that compared to the previous "already a very favorable price", it saved about $70 million a year.
