Win8 popularity is not as fast as "failure" Vista

According to the latest data, Win8 has been on the market for more than two months, accounting for only 1.6% of the total Windows PC system share, and the popularity rate is not as good as the Vista system. Because of poor market performance, it was called Microsoft's "failure".

Win8 market reaction is flat

After more than two months of listing, Win8's market performance is not "stunning". According to the latest data released by the organization Net Applications, as of December 22, Microsoft's Window 8 operating system accounted for only 1.6% of all Window PC systems, and the popularity rate is less than that of Vista.

Vista was seen as a failure of Microsoft because the user volume is much lower than the previous version of the system Win XP and the subsequent system Win 7. Even so, Vista’s share of the first month of listing is still 2.2. %, doubled in the second month, more than the current share of Win 8. The gap between Win8 and Win 7 is even greater. It is reported that Win 7 is listed for two months, which accounts for 6.2% of the total Windows system share, which is nearly four times that of Win 8 at present.

Vendors have expected Win8 to drive PC sales, but this expectation has not been achieved. US old-fashioned market research company NPD Group report shows that after a month of Windows 8 market, sales of Windows devices (desktops and notebooks) plummeted 21% compared with the same period last year, with notebooks falling 24% and desktops plummeting. 9%.

President Fujitsu said in Tokyo last Friday that the market's initial demand for Windows 8 is weak, and Fujitsu has lowered its PC shipments forecast. In the fiscal year ending March 31, Fujitsu reduced its PC shipments from 7 million units to approximately 6 million units. The other two PCs, ASUS and Acer, also expressed similar views on the market demand for Windows 8.

Some analysts say that Windows 8 will rebound next year, but if sales are not improved, Microsoft is likely to face real problems.

Surface orders have dropped by 50%

In addition to Win8, this year Microsoft has also launched a surface platform for transforming hardware products, but from the market performance, Surface has not been excited by consumers.

According to the "Business Times" recently reported that Microsoft has strategically adjusted orders, orders in the first quarter of 2013 fell sharply by more than 50%, only about 500,000 to 600,000 units. Previously, some media reported that the Surface shipments in the fourth quarter were only about 1.9 million to 2 million units, but the latest report from KGI said that the Surface tablet shipped only 1.25 million units this year.

Microsoft CEO Steve · Ballmer also used the term "gentle" to describe the sales of Surface RT. It is reported that in mainland China, Microsoft's sales channels are only Microsoft's official mall and Suning Appliance. For the overall sales of China's Surface, both parties refused to disclose any data.

Surface is sold in the US through Best Buy and Staples retail channels. According to a report released by Detwiler Fenton, a Boston-based market research company, the sales of Surface RT in the fourth quarter of this year were 500,000 to 600,000 units. Between, it is much lower than the previous estimate of 1 million to 2 million units.

In comparison, the iPad has exceeded 100 million units in sales for two years. The advertising company Chitika has collected tens of millions of samples and data shows that the iPad still accounts for 87% of tablet Internet traffic in North America. It can be seen that the dominance of the iPad in the tablet field is still stable.
