Windows 8 is slower than Vista

According to foreign media reports, market research company Net Applications data shows that on December 22, Windows 8's share of all connected Windows PCs rose from 1.2% in November to 1.6%, less than 2 months after release. After Vista (2.2%).

Below Vista's popularity is a disturbing sign for Windows 8. Vista is considered a failed product from Microsoft, in part because its number of users is far less than its predecessor Windows XP and successor Windows 7. Vista's share of all Windows systems reached a peak of 20.3% in the fall of 2009.

According to Computerworld, in the last week of December, Windows 8’s share of all Windows systems will rise to 4%, which is comparable to Vista’s.

Net Applications data confirms the view of other market research companies that Windows 8 has not driven PC sales. Market research firm NPD said at the end of November that US consumer PC sales fell 21% year-on-year in the four weeks before and after the release of Windows 8 (October 26). According to the latest NPD data quoted by the New York Times last weekend, US consumer Windows PC sales fell 13% year-on-year from the end of October to the first week of December.

At the end of the third month after the release, Vista accounted for 3.3% of all Windows copies. To reach the level comparable to Vista, Windows 8 must double its market share by the end of January 2013.

The popularity of Windows 8 is much lower than Windows 7. At the end of the second month, Windows 7 accounted for 6.2% of all Windows PCs, which is equivalent to nearly 4 times that of Windows 8 on December 22. From the current point of view, Windows 8 is almost impossible to catch up with Windows 7, at least in the short term: at the end of the third month, Windows 7 market share reached 8.2%.

Net Applications data shows that Windows 7 market share is still growing in December this year. As of December 22, Windows 7's share of all PCs was 45.6%, 0.9 percentage points higher than at the end of November. Windows 7 market share is growing at twice the speed of Windows 8.

Analysts pointed out that Windows 8 popularity is lower than Windows 7, and even Vista is not difficult to understand. Analysts predict that Windows 8 will be slow to spread due to factors such as weak economy, confusing dual-user interface, low willingness to upgrade, and tablet competition. Vista and Windows 7 have never faced fierce competition from tablets.
