Microsoft: Pushing Win10 Mobile Update for WP8.1 Devices in Early 2016

Computer Store News: Microsoft announced a few months ago that it will push Windows 10 Mobile for some Windows Phone 8.1 devices in December. However, Microsoft today announced that it will push Windows 10 Mobile updates for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8 devices in early 2016. A Microsoft spokesperson announced:

In November of this year we launched the mobile version of Windows 10, which includes some new features, such as Continuum and Universal Windows applications, now mobile version of Windows 10 has been pre- Loaded into the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. In addition, the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will begin to be pushed to some existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones early next year.

It is important to note that not all Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 phones will receive a Windows 10 Mobile upgrade in 2016, depending on your region and the carrier selected. According to Microsoft's previously announced information, the first devices to receive Windows 10 Mobile updates in 2016 will include Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 635 (1 GB RAM), Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830, and Lumia 930. Of course, some new Lumia such as Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 550 are pre-installed with Windows 10 Mobile. There is also an exciting change, Microsoft will bypass the operator to push updates directly for these devices. I hope that Microsoft will also push updates directly to other devices, without having to go through the operators' tests.
