According to foreign technology blog TechCrunch, although HP's TouchPad and Palm no longer exist, webOS still exists as an open source technology. Following the launch of the webOS beta at the end of August this year, HP today introduced an upgraded version of the product ——webOS 1.0.

HP said in the blog that the new webOS 1.0 system has undergone some functional improvements: the open source webOS team hopes that this system will bring some new important features to developers.

HP said, “We worked hard with the community and finally paid off. Now we are ready to move on to the next step. Through this release of the new system, we will keep our promises to achieve our goals and build a vibrant open source community. ”

According to the webOS team, they have delivered 75 open source webOS components in the past 9 months. The new software released today means that open source webOS can be ported to new devices. To show how the system works, chief architect Steve · Steve Winston demonstrated the open source system in HP's TouchSmart integrated PC.

Winston said, "It only takes two days" to port the open source webOS system to a PC, which is very simple.

Winston also said that the webOS 1.0 system can be used on a single business in a business enterprise such as a hotel, while it can be used on phones, tablets, PCs and almost all embedded computing hardware devices. Moreover, webOS may become a single solution for cross-industry, meeting all small business enterprises or customer service applications, and providing system support for front-line employees, tourism sales personnel and back-office management.
