How to re-enable the Telnet component of Windows 7 system?

  

Telnet is one of the most commonly used remote management tools for system administrators. In previous versions of Windows, simply run services.msc to open the service management and start the service. However, Win7 does not have this tool by default. So how to open it? The operation is as follows:

Click “Start”→“Control Panel”→“Program”,“ And function & rdquo; find and click "Open or close the Windows function" into the Windows function settings dialog. Find and tick “Telnet Client> and “Telnet Server”.

In addition, we can also install "TFTP client" through this wizard, "Internet information service", etc. After the Telnet service is installed, by default, It is disabled and you need to start the service through Services.msc.

Everyone knows that the Telnet connection is displayed in plain text. There are serious security problems, but in order to facilitate the occasional use of this service, it can be combined with Windows Firewall, just click “Start”→ “Control Panel”→“System Security”→”Windows Firewall”→“Advanced Settings, enter the firewall settings window.

Click on "Inbound Rules" in the left pane, find "Telnet Server" in the middle pane, right click on the rule and select "Properties" ; Enter its property settings window. Click on the “General” tab and we can see that by default the firewall allows all Telnet connections. We choose “Allow the connection if it is sevure  (only allow secure connections), then you can customize the security rules. Click the "computer" tab, under which you can set up a computer and an exception computer that authorize Telnet connections. Click on the "scope" tab, under which you can set local and remote IP to control the Telnet connection. Click the "Users" tab, under which you can add users who can remotely telnet.
