Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10 comprehensive comparison

  


After the Ubuntu 11.10 beta 2 launch, foreign media have conducted a comprehensive comparison test of Ubuntu 11.10 and Ubuntu 11.04. 64-bit Ubuntu 11.04 is compared to the recently introduced Ubuntu 11.10, which used six different systems as a reference.

PostMark Disk Test
In the PostMark disk test, the difference between Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10 is not large, especially when using the default EXT4 file system. The performance of the Intel Atom 330 and the Core Duo system is slightly worse, but another Intel Atom 330 has significantly improved performance on Ubuntu 11.10. The other three systems behave the same.
FS-Mark Test
This FS-Mark test is to make 1000 files of 1M size under Ubuntu with different installation methods. The test results show that the EXT4 performance difference between Ubuntu 11.04 and Ubuntu 11.10 is not large.
