How to use GHOST backup system tips:

The system is re-installed for various reasons. This is inevitable and the last thing we want to encounter. With ghost, we will again Don't worry, it will help us restore the system in the shortest possible time.

Ghost (Ghost) software is an excellent hard disk backup and restore tool introduced by Symantec Corporation of the United States. It can realize partitioning and hard disk backup of FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, OS2 and other hard disk partition formats. reduction. Commonly known as clone software.

Since it is called cloning software, its Ghost backup and restore is based on the sector of the hard disk, which means that the physical information on one hard disk can be completely copied, not just the data. Simple copy; Ghost supports direct backup of partitions or hard disks to a file with a .gho extension (this file is called an image file) and also supports direct backup to another partition or hard disk.

We usually copy the ghost file to the boot floppy disk, or burn it into the bootable CD. After entering the Dos environment with the boot disk, enter ghost at the prompt, press Enter to run ghost, press any The key enters the ghost operation interface, and the ghost menu appears. There are 4 items in the main menu. From bottom to top are Quit, Options, Peer to Peer (point pair, mainly used in the network), Local (local) . In general, we only use the Local menu item, which has three sub-items: Disk (hard disk backup and restore), Partition (disk partition backup and restore), Check (hard disk detection), the first two functions are the ones we use the most. The following operation explanation is about the Partition item.

Introduction to the Partition menu There are three submenus under it: To Partion: Copy one partition (called the source partition) directly to another partition (the target partition). Note that the target partition space cannot be smaller than the source partition when operating. To Image: Back up a partition as an image file. Note that the partition where the image file is stored cannot be smaller than the source partition, preferably larger than the source partition. From Image: Restore the partition from the image file (restore the backed up partition).

Operation steps: 1). Select Loacl→Partition→To Image to back up the hard disk partition as an image file with the suffix “.gho”;

2). Select the partition to be backed up. Drive, click ok;

3). Select the partition to be backed up, which is the System partition, click ok;

4). Type the name of the image file in the Filename field, such as " WinXP.gho" and storage location (Note: you can not select the partition being backed up), and then press the "enter" key;

5). Select whether to compress, No is not compressed, Fast is low compression, High is high compression. Generally choose High high compression, slower speed, but can compress 50%;

6). Now watch the progress bar slowly go away. The speed of backup is very much related to memory. It usually takes 5 minutes to complete;

7). After the backup is complete, you can quit Ghost.
