Install WindowsXP

under DOS. Before installing Windows XP under DOS, I must read it a few days ago. When I installed Windows XP, my friend asked me to format the machine. After entering the DOS environment with the boot disk, installing Windows XP is very slow. Ask me what is going on. When I asked him to run the Smartdrv.exe file, my friend looked at me with a blank look, I don't know what I was talking about. The Smartdrv.exe file can emulate a portion of the memory as a disk buffer to speed up file access. Therefore, when installing Windows XP under DOS, running the Smartdrv.exe file can greatly improve the file copy speed. One point to note is that this program uses extended memory, so you must also load Himem.sys beforehand. How to do it? First, create a bootable disk using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows 98 Control Panel. Then look for "Himem.sys" under the C drive and copy it to the boot disk. Create a new text file on the boot disk, add the following sentence: device=himem.sys, save and rename the file to Config.sys. Then find the Smartdrv.exe file in the Windows 98 installation directory and copy it to the boot disk. Next, start the computer with this boot disk created, enter "Smartdrv C+20480" at the prompt, and then press Enter (Hint: the parameter "C+" means to assign the virtual buffer to the hard disk C drive, you can Set the installation location of Windows XP according to your own requirements; "20480" refers to the size of the virtual buffer, the unit is KB, which is generally about 1/3 of the physical memory size). Now you can install it, put the Windows XP installation CD into the CD-ROM drive. Here, if the drive letter of the CD-ROM drive is F-disk, then we change the drive to the I386 directory of the F-disk, enter "Winnt" and press Enter to install The Windows XP tour begins!
